So, 20 posts until I hit 5000. This is a shameless attempt
to get there fast so I get my prize. There IS a prize, right?

Answer this: You can invite two people to dinner: One living, one dead (he/she comes uncorrupted, hopefully). Whom would you invite, what would you serve, and what would you listen to?

I'LL START:

John the Baptist
Jerry Falwell

Kosher hotdogs, kraut, baked beans

76 Trombones from The Music Man

3. You have hit 5000 PDQ
I am no good at hosting. You made me realize that I have never made a meal for someone else in my entire life. Except I made a salad once that my dad also ate and I have made peanut butter cookies that my sister ate (and also took a batch to school).

Just for the fireworks, it would be nice to invite Abe Lincoln and George W. Bush to dinner. I think JR would be having humble pie.

7. Oh yeah I'd like to be at that one
and I'd like to ask Abe about sleeping in bed with a guy for four years. Maybe you should tiptoe out and leave them alone?

Peanut butter cookies sounds good.

But what would you be listening to?

I was sadly dissappointed last week.

I would invite Thomas Jefferson and Bill O'Reilly and watch someone get schooled!

12. Turandot is an opera by Puccini.
It has one of the most beautiful tenor arias in all of opera, "Nessun Dorma" - it's been made very famous by Pavarotti.

The reason I said Prince Wm. is I'd like to exchange ideas with a person who is young, reasonably well educated, and who is assured a place in history - don't know exactly what it will be at this time, but you can bet your boots he'll be there.

13. Prince William is an empty slate right now
a very pretty empty slate.

I think there is a possibility he might have something to say.

I am off to Amazon to find "Nessun Dorma" and listen to a cut and see if I recognize it. I am not familiar with the opera.

I used to go to the Met when I was a child in the NYC metro area. Wonderful memories. I liked the orange juice and the costumes the best.

14. Oh, you've got that right
I'd like to sit at a dinner table with ALL my dead relatives. I have so many questions.

What I'd like even better is some sort of a way to go back and just look at their lives. I'm a genealogist and I think about this sort of thing.

18. My dad was more important to me than anything.
I guess I would not "set the world on fire, and use my soul as kindling" to get him back, as a character in the beginning of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time said, but the kindling part, and anything that only hurt me; YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT. Ahem, sorry for shouting.
