IT was 2 years ago today on a cold rainy night that Abbott discovered me and decided that his new home would be inside of my apartment. Although we had some problems at first living together (you try living with a one year old horny male cat!), we neutered that problem and now Abbott has been the most amazing creature I've ever been adopted by (and trust me, I haven't been owned by a cat before him).
He has compromised sharing the home with Evita, but he is still the ruler of the roost picking the prime sleeping places and demanding snuggle time from me. His favorites are having his belly scratched and stroked right underneath the cheek. And since moving indoors he went from being this scruffy Tom cat to this gorgeous 15lb cat with the softest fur imaginable! And although he does have a slight substance abuse problem (he loves cat nip) I still can't imagine my life without Abbott.
Abbott Fact: His original name was Eleanor because I had no clue if he was a boy or girl until the 3rd day when I saw him licking his pee-pee. I was going to name what I thought was a her after Eleanor Roosevelt but use the nickname "Ellie"
Abbott Fact #2: When it was discovered he was a boy he was then named after Abbie Hoffman because at the time I was reading Abbie Hoffman's biography. But folks were confused by his sex when they heard Abbie AND everytime I scolded him I would use Abbott so he wouldn't have a negative association with his name Abbie. But he ended up being called Abbott more than Abbie. So officially his name is Abbie and his nickname is Abbott. Vet records are all with Abbie
Abbott Fact #3: Abbott suffers from Acne and I have to wash his face about 2-3 times a week to keep it clear. Although I got rid of all the plastic dishes the Vet just thinks it's because he likes to drool
