Well, show me the way To the next whiskey bar
Well, show me the way
To the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why

Show me the way
To the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why

For if we don't find
The next whiskey bar
I tell you we must die
I tell you we must die
I tell you, i tell you i tell you we must die

Oh, moon of alabama
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our good old mama
And must have whiskey, oh, you know why

Oh, moon of alabama
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our good old mama
And must have whiskey, oh, you know why

Well, show me the way
To the next little girl
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why

Show me the way
To the next little girl
Oh, don't ask why oh, don't ask why

For if we don't find
The next little girl
I tell you we must die
I tell you we must die
I tell you, i tell you i tell you we must die

Oh, moon of alabama
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our good old mama
And must have whiskey, oh, you know why

3. Calling Morrison a poet is like calling Bush intelligent.
It's just not a very apt description at all.

9. Ummm..."poe"-etic alcoholic?
I think we all know who that would be. :7

Something about his lost Lenore, etcetera.

I love this song, though! I'd long since forgotten it.

5. This was not written by the Doors....
It was from a German opera by Bertolt Brecht called The Rise And Fall Of The City Of Mahogany. I saw this opera when I visited Glasgow, Scotland in the 80s. Very decadent, interesting opera. I am NOT an opera fan and I loved this. It was not your usual opera.

7. if you liked that
then you might enjoy the Dreigroschenoper (three pennies opera) by Brecht also. I haven't seen the Rise and Fall .... but I remember that I read it somewhere that the Alabama Song isn't by The Doors.

Still, I like their interpretation :)
