GIANT ‘CHICKEN’ IN WHEELCHAIR CROSSES THE ROAD TO PROTEST KFC IN COLUMBIA
It would be hilarious if KFC had an influx in customers during this time. I know I would show up and eat a chicken drum right in front of that nutball in the wheelchair. You know there is a reason we have canine teeth.

Columbia, S.C. — A giant wheelchair-bound "chicken" will repeatedly cross the road in front of a local KFC to lead a protest against the company’s abusive treatment of chickens. Other PETA members will distribute leaflets to passersby, and one activist will wear a body screen TV showing shocking video footage of factory-farming abuse:

Date: Thursday, December 8
Time: 11 a.m.
Place: KFC, 2349 Taylor St.

5. Good points...
But you must admit that it would cost a lot of money to process these chickens any differently.

8. Sure... hence the increase in cost for free-range chicken...
but the increase isn't that much. It just depends whether or not this bothers your conscience and, if so, how much you're willing to pay to continue eating chicken while avoiding guilt

3. canine teeth?
What does the makeup of your digestive system have to do with fair treatment of animals?

You can eat chicken and still distinguish between humane and inhumane ways to treat animals that are used for food.

7. If more people knew what happens to the chickens
I really do believe they would at least think twice about eating it, if not stop altogether.

But a lot of people don't want to trouble themselves to get the facts. sad.

10. Stepping in to my flame retardent suit now...
I can agree with many of the goals of PETA but often disagree with the tactics. Ok, the chicken and the wheelchair is a great idea as well as "non-shocking" leaflets. That being said, "shocking" footage to me is no better than abortion fanaticals holding up pictures of dead fetuses. I guess it's the Christmas season and PETA feels they have to use shock and awe on children and families. Just luvly.

They should be sooo proud.

From the website:

Holding signs that read, "Fur Is for Animals," and accompanied by a giant, cuddly "rabbit," members of PETA and Animal Connection of Texas (ACT) will greet children and their parents attending the Monday night performance of The Nutcracker, and this demonstration will include a new twist: Kids in the company of fur-clad mothers will receive PETA’s "Your Mommy Kills Animals!" leaflets depicting a demonic mom thrusting a bloody knife into a terrified rabbit, along with graphic photos of animals killed for fur. The action is part of a leafleting campaign at performances of The Nutcracker.

Flame on...I've got my suit on.

12. "Your Mommy kills animals"????? What if it is fake fur? Can a PETA
person tell fake fur from real fur? Even if it is real, no one should tell a kid such a thing. PETA will convert no one with those tactics.

Surely there are better ways to try an advocate banning fur (or whatever the correct term is)!

25. No flame from this end,
that is indeed a fucked-up promotion.

For every person they may make think "good point", they make more think "what fucking assholes."

They seem to be performing for their faithful, I cannot see making any converts that way.

21. They're pretty bad, I know...
I hate seeing the cows and pigs trucks, too. Usually there's at least one downed cow or pig in the truck, and you can just see the anguish in their eyes if you have the stomach to look them in the face.

I don't know how people can see them on their way to a restaurant and not be affected by it. We can still eat meat but do it in a way that respects the life of the animal and is humane start to finish.

Most Americans do. You can still eat chicken and make the slaughtering process more humane and respectful to the life and suffering of the animal.

23. Why do they use the term 'wheelchair-bound'?
If it weren't for the freedom that the wheelchair provided that chicken the chicken would not have been able to cross the road!

(Then KFC wouldn't have been able to fry that MFer up so I could eat some finger-licken-good food for supper tonight!)
