Strange dog behavior
Our dog, Chase, did something really strange last night. He had been upset for a while, and kept shaking his head real hard and making his ears flip loudly. I finally figured out that he was upset because the water bowl was empty.

By the time I filled it, Petunia, our 15 year old, feeble cat was at the water bowl. She was taking her sweet time (at least 10-15 minutes), and I could see that Chase was getting very impatient. I told him he'd just have to wait till Petunia was done.

My wife went up to bed, and I went in the bathroom. When I came out, like a minute later, and started to walk toward the living room, there it was: a cat turd, right smack in the doorway between the dining room and living room. Chase was on the far end of the living room by the fireplace looking very sheepish. Petunia was still at the water bowl. I knew immediately that Chase had picked up the cat turd and put it there, but what was his motivation? Was he just generally "getting even" with me, or was he trying to get Petunia in trouble so he could take over the water bowl?

2. Are you sure Petunia didn't put it there herself?

3. Yes, for two reasons:
1. I wasn't in the bathroom long enough for her to have moved that far. She was basically in the exact spot where she had been for the previous 15 minutes. She's very feeble and slow.

2. It wasn't a fresh turd; it was a hard one that had been in the cat box.

4. He was thirsty and he was mad at you
I'm with Chase on this one - 15 mins is a long time to wait when you are thirsty. Maybe you need 2 water bowls.

5. Well he certainly made his point.
But I wish he'd just barked at me to let me know.

8. Obviously trying to frame the cat
That's a great story, though! Yeah, you need two water bowls.

9. As the owner of 5 pups, I find that hilarious...
BTW, When the Schnauzer shakes her head so hard her ears flip loudly, we call that "the helicopter". Amazing how fast they can move their heads.

12. We Have 2 Seperate Bowls
The cat has her own on the top of the table (Sable chases the cat so much that we have to put her to allow her to eat in peace). The dogs have their own below the table. Shuggy (the Cat) does drink out of the dog's bowl, but only while they are sleeping. It is the best way to have a sane household.

By the way, I feel for you and the cat turd. At least the turd is small. LOL
