Anybody ever try to navigate the maze of Dell online support?
I was in chat with them for 1-1/2 hours, being shunted from person to person, each one saying the NEXT one could solve the problem with my brand new Dell laptop that has black spots on the screen. After being cut off twice, and being told I HAD to solve the problem through chat, I called instead and the problem was solved in 10 minutes.

If you want to stay sane, don't use Dell online support chat. I never will again.

1. Customer support in general is getting suckier everywhere.

I was flying somewhere a week and a half ago and tried looking up a policy on the airline's website and found something that only applied to people who work for the airline or get free tickets or something. So I called up the customer service line and sure enough it's some Indian dude, and he probably just did a search on the web site and found the same page I did for employees and acted like that was that, that's all he could find out. It just sucked and was flakey. These companies could afford to answer our questions five or ten years ago; what happened?

6. Gee thanks, how nice of you.
Unfortunately, Dell was all I could afford - they matched a WalMart Black Friday laptop price.

But thanks for the sentiment.

3. I despise DELL
I made lightening strike my DELL, then turned around and built a ShuttleX. Screw DELL to HELL.

4. I love calling Dell.
I've had my computer for some years now, and they still take my calls for free and answer my questions even though I'm sure the warranty is gone.

I know the Dell fam are Bushies, but still.

Online, though? Never dealt with them, and thanks for the heads up.

5. I just went through that for the past two nights ordering a new Dell
Laptop. I tried to change my order and got the merry-go-round and then cut off. Then someone from Dell called ME this AM to see how things worked out since I was cut off. He solved the problem in a couple minutes.

I've had a lot of different experiences with their tech support. Sometimes they were unbelievably wonderful and other times awful.
You just have to hope you get a good person that speaks decent English. When you do...be sure to get his number and extension and you shouldn't get tangled up in that MAZE.
