Owwwwww.... Hands Hurt! Too F%^)$% Much Piano!
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 05:31 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
Well, okay, so I'm ADDICTED to the ivories, but seriously... I think playing the same part (very beginning of "Heart and Soul") OVER and OVER again (for, oh, fifteen minutes straight---the same two measures!) until it is BURNED into my muscle memory ain't such a hot idea in the short run of things! Damn, my hands are a-twitchin'!

So what's up with everyone? Chasing after Forrest, are we? :P :P

;)

9. My SO used to play years ago
He occasionally bitches about how much he loved it and how he used to play this or that and I tell him, go downstairs and pull out your keyboard and set it up and PRACTICE then - but all he wants to do is bitch. He doesn't want to actually put anything into it. LOL

10. Sore hands?
I recommend arnica gel or pellets. My husband gets sore hands and wrists after a four-hour night of playing brushes, and he swears by the arnica.

13. Oooh I want a piano
I have a keyboard but am too technologically challenged to figure out how to program / use the split, so it's useless to me (since I love to play classical).

Someday...

15. Ooooooh I'm so jealous!
The sound, the feel... *drools*

Kudos to you for taking lessons. I've been 'self taught' since grade school, and really should get a teacher to learn the finer points. Just memorizing sheet music is okay, but I'm missing out I know.

16. Thank you.
Yes, it is a whole different ball of wax with a teacher. I, too, have "self-taught" myself--with interesting results. Finally buckled down and decided to nab a teacher--only two weeks ago! I LOVE it.

Yeah, I still drool over my pianee as well...

:P :P

18. Are your hands tense when you play?
The hardest thing to learn about playing an instrument is how to relax.

Whenever you experience pain while playing, you should stop immediately and work out the kinks.
