I'm watching A Christmas Carol for the second time tonight.
The good one, with Alastair Sim. The scene at the end when he beats Bob Cratchit to the office, berates him, then says there is nothing left but to give him a raise is a little painful. I've never liked tormenting humor, but Scrooge after Cratchit leaves to buy coal is one of the best performances I've ever seen. His joy, shame, unworthiness, then joy again, all in the space of about 60 seconds should be studied by every acting student.

1. I just watched it last night, and will probably watch it again.
It's my very favorite version. Did you watch the black and white one, or the colorized version? Mine is the B&W.

2. Black and White.
I don't watch colorized movies. I saw the colorized version of It's A Wonderful Life and it stole so much away from the mood of the movie. That's when I started doing a little research and found out why. B&W directors knew their craft. I'd like to see a modern director to attempt B&W, but I think probably the art is lost.

3. There was a newer version on Bravo the other night
It was a musical--and they did a song every two or three minutes. It was too much for me, as I'm not a huge fan of musicals. After the first hour I gave up trying to watch it, even though it's one of my favorite classic stories of all time.

4. that's a great one
can you rent that one? I love seeing it on late night TV.

I love all the versions though, the one with Patrick Stewart and even the Muppet version with Michael Caine. each actor brings a certain quality to the role.

5. The Muppet version is my next favorite.
I haven't seen it since my kids were young. I think I need to rent it soon.

8. You're being insightful. Jim Henson always wrote and filmed
for kids and adults. The Muppet show was as much for adults as it was for children.
