Favorite Christmas Carol?
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas?

Silver bells?

O Holy Night?

Hmmmm....

I can't choose...

What's yours?

1. I tend to think of "carols" as the religous songs/hymns, and the
secular songs as just "Christmas songs."

My favorite carol is "O Come All Ye Faithful."

My favorite secular song is either Frank Sinatra's version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" or the Mills Brothers' version of "Here Comes Santa Claus." And I have very warm feelings about Emmylou Harris doing "Christmas-time's A-Comin'" and Dean Martin singing "Silver Bells."

I have a hard time choosing favorites.

2. We Three Kings
That one is lovely. Although, whenever I hear it, the first thing I usually think of is the silly/funky version of it featured on "A Clamation Christmas" (from back in the 80's...Clamation camels sang that particular version.) :D

I also like "O, Holy Night" and "Carol of the Bells." And "Ave Maria." And a bunch of others...well, I guess I can't choose either! :-)

3. Walkin' Round in Women's Underwear
(to be sung to "Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland")

Lacy things -- the wife is missin',
Didn't ask -- her permission,
I'm wearin' her clothes,
Her silk pantyhose,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

In the store -- there's a teddy,
Little straps -- like spaghetti,
It holds me so tight,
Like handcuffs at night,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

In the office there's a guy named Melvin,
He pretends that I am Murphy Brown.
He'll say, "Are you ready?" I'll say,"Whoa, Man!"
"Let's wait until our wives are out of town!"

Later on, if you wanna,
We can dress -- like Madonna,
Put on some eyeshade,
And join the parade,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear!

Lacy things... missin',
Didn't ask... permission,
Wearin' her clothes,
Her silk pantyhose,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear!

5. I 95 Song
THE ASSHOLE SONG

WERE YOU BORN AN ASSHOLE
OR DID YOU WORK AT IT YOUR WHOLE LIFE
EITHER WAY IT WORKED OUT FINE
CAUSE YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE TONIGHT

YES YOU'RE AN A......S-S-H-O-L-E
AND DON'T YOU TRY TO BLAME IT ON ME
YOU DESERVE ALL THE CREDIT
YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE TONIGHT

YOU WERE AN ASSHOLE YESTERDAY
YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE TONIGHT
AND I'VE GOT A FEELIN'
YOU'LL BE AN ASSHOLE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

(LEAD)

AND I WAS TALKIN' TO YOUR MOTHER
JUST THE OTHER NIGHT
I TOLD HER I THOUGHT YOU WERE AN ASSHOLE
SHE YES I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT

AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE ASSHOLES
CAUSE YOU'VE KNOWN THEM YOUR WHOLE LIFE
AND SOMEBODY TOLD ME
YOU GOT AN ASSHOLE FOR A WIFE

(REPEAT FIRST VERSE)

Actually, I was thinking of you as I played my new Christmas CD. One of the songs is 'Merry Christmas Allah' to the tune of 'Merry Christmas Darling'.

Can't find the lyrics on the internet or I would post them for you.

23. DO it!
Second pick:

Do you love me The Contours

You broke my heart
‘Cause I couldn’t dance
You didn’t even want me around
And now I’m back, to let you know
I can really shake ‘em down

Do you love me? (I can really move)
Do you love me? (I’m in the groove)
Ah do you love? (Do you love me)
Now that I can dance (dance)

Watch me now, oh (work, work)
Ah, work it all baby (work, work)
Well, you’re drivin’ me crazy (work, work)
With a little bit of soul now (work)

(Just trying to be helpful

that "woman in San Francisco"

:) )

6. I think of carols as traditional Christmas songs, pre-pop era
often but not necessarily religious in nature. My own fave is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" with those glad tidings of comfort and joy. "The Holly And The Ivy" is up there too.

My favorite pop era Christmas standard is "I'll Be Home For Christmas".

Usually sung by a tenor that knows how to tell a story. No stylings, no frills and bows, just sings the story.

20. My first Christmas song memories were of Gene Autry (singing cowboy):
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 09:18 PM by Seabiscuit
"Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer"

and

"Here Comes Santa Clause"

I still wake up in the morning singing a child's silly version of "Here Comes Santa Clause". I think I sang it that way the morning after I first slept with my wife before we were married. To this day I think that's why she married me. :)

21. Xmas Song
Followed by Silver Bells and Walking in a Winter Wonderland (although I enjoy walking around in women's underwear).

If I had to choose a McKinzie Bros tune though, I'd pick the 12 days of Xmas:

On the first day of Xmas, my true love gave to me, a beer..:silly:
