Another idiots point - not okay to criticize *

From an e-mail sent to me:


Apparently, the White House is now considering whether to punish the soldiers who spoke their mind about how they're being treated by the president.  "None of us that wear this uniform are free to say anything disparaging about the Secretary of Defense or the President of the United States," General John Abizaid, the head of U.S. Central Command, told ABC News.  Two thoughts:

1) It's funny how when everyone in the military, from Colin Powell on down, savaged President Clinton over gays in the military in 1993, that was a-okay.  But when President Bush takes some knocks for his Iraq policy, when soldiers are being shot dead every day, now heads need to roll?



2) The moral of the story: When soldiers tell the truth in wartime, they need to be punished.  But when their commander-in-chief lies about that same war war, it's "just sixteen words."

I think it's perfectly acceptable for a service member to express disapproval of a given policy or the president's performance. It would be totally inappropriate for a soldier to call Bush a "shithead" to reporters, though. It's okay for us to do it, though! :-)

Another reason I wouldn't want to be in that crowd: having to listen to the daily loathing of the Clintons, and now all this hypocritical bashing of a few soldiers blowing off steam in a 120F war zone while they dodge bullets.

6. Really I thought I was in America

Rights like this are why my ancestors left I thinks not sure I dont know either that or the poverty but I assume political freedom and a second chance because most of them lived in nations occupied by empires my dad's Irish by the Brits and my moms by the Austrian-Hungerians. Punish? sounds like something that the loud German jerk I mean Austrian you know the guy is known as the worst evil ever Hitler, Adolf Hitler that was his name he would agree that you cant criticize the fueher during war time.
