Who remembers "Don't Break the Ice"?
Edited on Thu Dec-01-05 03:06 PM by Rabrrrrrr

Looks like Hasbro is making the game again!

I loved this one as a kid. One of those wonderful Hasbro "Fun but also you learn something" games.

1. I hated that fucking game.
"Delicately" was not in my vocabulary at the time we had the game.

:P

2. I liked that one, but Don't Wake Daddy was my favorite. We play that
here every Sunday...without pieces...or the game even. :hi:

3. I do. HATED it.
It reminded me too damned much of what we had to do every single fucking day of our lives: be very, very careful, because you never know what's going to set Mom or Dad off. :scared:

But I'm not bitter. ;)

6. It's certainly symbolic of living with an alcoholic
Not only teaches physics, also teaches the truth that no matter how careful you are, eventually daddy is gonna go into a drunken tirade.

Ah, childhood. How I don't miss certain parts of it.

7. And the one that was an upright hollow cylinder, through which one shoved
little sticks in the plane horizontal to the axis, and then poured marbles into the top, which be caught by all the sticks. And then one removed the sticks one at a time, trying not to let any marbles down.

Can't remember the name of it, but my sister and I played the hell out of that one.

And pick up sticks. Always loved that.

Cootie was fucking great, too!!!

8. I remember the one with the marbles
do you remember the one, similar game, using monkeys with little hooked arms? Where you had to race your friend to get a monkey down from the top by removing little sticks?

16. We gave Operation to a girlfriend of ours as a wedding gift
(she was in med school at the time)

Okay, we also gave them cash, but they loved the game (at least that's what they said in their thank you card).

10. I bought one for my kids a couple of years ago.
Do not be fooled! This is not the game of your youth! It is a cheap, flimsy imitation!

14. Nothing is as good any more. For fuck's sake, Tonkas are PLASTIC!
I was deeply saddened when Tonka decided to go plastic. Tonkas, at least, should be metal and well constructed. Part of the fuyn of a Tonka was being able to push them off picnic tables and other high places, and they still worked.

Cheap fucking plastic shit.

if he'd gotten them as a toy.

But PLASTIC Tonkas? Yikes.

18. tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap
ARGH! I don't think Hasbro quit making it. Nothing is as fun as listening to several kindergartners play this game over and over (I used to teach, we had it in my classroom) taptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptap

Now my kids have it, but its too hard for them to get all the ice cubes in by themselves. I'm constantly putting it back together for them. I think this game might get 'disappeared' soon.
