What are you getting you loved one for the holidays?
Every year I struggle to decide what to give my wife for the holidays, and every year I just draw a blank. It's like the pressure just wipes my mind clean. Normally I just get her a sweater and some organic sustainable fancy paper and pens and the like.

Not this year though! I've got a doozy! I'm building her a XPC pc from scratch! She's been complaining about her stone-age computer: "I guess I'll go start up my computer now, that way it'll be up by the time I'm done with my bath". :P :P Took a while to dig through the specs and get the right parts together, but I think I've got it.

Is this a good gift?:

What are you all giving this year? I can't promise I won't copy you and use your ideas myself in the future. In fact, I'm counting on some good ideas!

1. The wife and I ..
... don't do Xmas gifts any more. We jointly decide some things that we both want, and buy them.

And really, she hasn't tricked me by buying an unexpected gift, or gotten mad at me for not buying her anything, ever.

She's one of a kind!!

Last year she wanted pliers and screw drivers. Now its baked goods. I'm thankful I don't have to battle Home Depot (or as we call it, Home Piss Off).

So ginger bread cookies it is...

6. My husband carries his lap top in my daughters old backpackpack
which is falling apart, it goes everywhere he does and in the past year thats mostly been overseas so for Christmas i'm buying him a new really well made backpack. I know, not very exciting but he doesn't like me to spend money on him.

11. We're giving Skip's bro Sirius Radio,
Then We're getting his dad one of those storm kit flashlights. I'm getting people frames to put our pictures in. Cocky and arrogant I know, but they are SOOO Good. And other stuff, but I'm not really sure what else, actually. That's all we've decided on for now...

16. Nope it's a big kit...
It's actually a storm station. I couldn't remember the name exactly. There's a removeable flashlight, a radio, it's a mini generator with two plugs, one regular like for the wall, and one for the cigarette lighter adapter for the car. It's very cool. Skip's dad is very into flashlights and cool gadgets...

23. You both play?
Thats gotta be so cool to be able to jam with your spouse. I always pictured that as being another way to talk to each other! Unfortuanatly the misses and I are both rather tone-deaf.

24. Oh, no, we are absolute beginners! He got me a guitar for our anniversary
and when I say "play together", I mean spending an hour working out a tune and then doing our best not to completely butcher it! LOL

But he loves the banjo, has not ever played before, but loves to listen to early banjo music, and I know he has musical talent because he used to play the harpsichord, and was pretty good at it.

I played the guitar years ago, and have now regained some of the "finger feel" that I had before. It's great to play an instrument, and it's been such a void in my life until he gave me my beautiful (beginners) guitar.

So yall could certainly jam as good as us!

25. Cookbooks!
My sister and her fiance both asked for cookbooks, so I thought I would get Ma and Pa cookbooks as well. Pa is not much of a cook though, my mother has had difficulty teaching him things like "rolling boil" and "simmer," so I will be getting him an additional gift. Ma, too. She's the tough one though.
