Calling all GREAT GUYS - Where do you hide?
I'm particularly interested in the 'hiding' places of men in their 30s and 40s.

Where should a woman like this

go to meet a great guy?

1. Well...one of them is hiding in my house right now.
;) Sadly, he's taken, but I found him through old memories. Seriously, we dated in high school and broke up....and ran into each other a few years later. Married 9 years and looking forward to 90. Think back to your school years. Anyone you might be interested in looking up again? Mine was merely fate...and a party. :hi:

sorry I did. I too, thought like you, but sometimes your "forward" can be found in your past. Thanks.

That said, MrG is the awesomest, most perfect, handsomest man on earth::

I've only been to my hometown once since I left home and that was 13 years ago. My parents no longer live there, so there's no reason for me to go there.

83. Funny thing is, for years I thought I would rot away, a single mom with
no one after my daughter grew up (she was two at the time). Everyday, I remind myself how lucky I am...even on those days that start out with me wanting to claw his eyes out.

Good luck yvr girl...I await the day you find your perfect (or as close as it can come) match, and I will toast your happiness.

10. how about political functions?
you'll be more likely to find someone with a compatible world view than at, say, a bar, where the mix is random.

In my experience, there are always more single women than single men at such events, but I met my husband through politics.

I'm not sure you'd be interested but I am taken. Depending on the day you speak to my wife I might not be that good of a catch. But anyhow, back in the day I hung out with friends and met girls through them. I never was into the dating scene. I met my wife through another friend who had actually asked her out on a date with a bunch of others including me. He didn't hit it off with her and I didn't hit it off with my date but we clicked.

62. when you say "good" at something
are you speaking as a coin collector?

Am I good at bowling?
Am I a good trumpet player? A good piano player? A good writer? or researcher?
Compared to some, not so good compared to others.

Otherwise I might be 80th percentile in those factors, except on adventurous. There I am probably 30th percentile - maybe. But I did goto NY, Switzerland, and start my own business, so I might be underestimating.

64. I was unsure of what to put for that item, let me explain
I was tempted to put 'successful' but I don't want to suggest that I'm after a guy with money. Same thing with 'driven.'

I considered 'skilled' but I thought that would elicit a bunch of smart-alec comments.

It's my experience that many guys derive satisfaction from excelling at their career. Women want that too, but it's not as central to their overall well-being. I want a guy who has found his niche in life.

71. in that case
I'm out.
Unless being doormat to the world counts as my niche.
I would derive more satisfaction from excelling at my relationship. In the working class, a career is a curse, and in spite of my education, or perhaps because of it, I am unable to escape the working class. "If there is a lower class, I am in it ..."

sporting events, classes in things like computing and photography, the back yard barbeques of your best married girlfriend (who just happened to invite her really handsome brother-in-law, or hubby's best bud from school).

Seriously, do what you love and open yourself up to a wide variety of people. Even the married and gay fellas have friends, brothers and coworkers who might be Mr. Right.

56. Surprisingly, church
Not all churches are right-wing fundamentalist. I used to go to a left-leaning one and several couples met there and got married. Volunteer organizations might be another place.

59. I'm an atheist, and I'd agree on church, too
I'd never have done it in my single days... but, i remember back when I was in college, I'd always be one of the rare students up reasonably early on a Sunday morning and I'd see all kinds of attractive young people going into or coming out of the campus churches (and, this was a fairly large state university, not some small religious school)

from guys and dolls

KY. (spoken) No, no, no! You are talking about love! You can't dope it like that. What
are you picking, a guy or a horse?
SARAH (spoken) I wouldn't expect a gambler to understand.
SKY (spoken) Would you like to hear how a gambler feels about the big heart throb?
SARAH (spoken) No!
SKY (spoken) Well, I'll tell you.

Mine will come as a surprise to me.
Mine I lead to chance and chemistry.

SARAH (spoken) Chemistry?
SKY (spoken) Yeah, chemistry.

Suddenly I'll know when my love comes along
I'll know then and there
I'll know at the sight of her face
How I care, how I care, how I care
And I'll stop. And I'll stare.

And I'll know long before we can speak
I'll know in my heart.
I'll know and I won't ever ask
Am I right, am I wise, am I smart.
And I'll stop. And I'll stare.
At that face. In the throng.
Yes, I'll know when my love comes along
I'll know

1. My apartment
2. My office (and some classrooms)
3. A friend's apartment (my my apartment is to small to hang out in)
4. St. John's Lutheran Church

Any of those places would be a good place to bump into me. Sometimes I like to drink and/or bowl.

I'm truly sorry to have to break the truth to you like that, and promise that I'd never have done so if it didn't apply to me personally, if you catch my drift and I think you do, which ought to make you feel better about yourself, at least if you think anything good of me, if you know where I'm going with this and I'd be damned surprised if you didn't.

Being honest, and—hey, you know it'me, Redstone, so I'm not going to lie or pander to you, not matter how much I may like you—you just gotta keep looking for the right place to look.

You live in a fairly big city; surely there MUST be a guy (or seventeen) who would appreciate you for your sparlking presonality, party-hardiness, and (last but far from least) your flying ability.

And you ain't hardly rough of the eyes, either.

So have faith, m'dear; some day when you least expect it, you'll run into a younger (and less-injured) verson of your personal Redstone, and your life will be coplete.

I truly beleive this. You're too bright and pretty and smart and fun-loving of a woman to be by yourself much longer.,

120. military base or LA
military is disproportionately male.

In LA, we have a weird demographic situation.

We have about the same mix of men and women as anywhere else, but in Hollywood in particular, it is more socially acceptable for old guys to go out with and marry much younger women. Consequently, women under 40 are at a premium.

For a woman over 40, the opposite is true. That's when producers kick the trophy wives to the curb and even shed stars and models, so your competition would be stiff.

Alaska is probably the best all around choice.
