Whewie! That was one damn-ass good-ass Ribeye/Mushroom/Asparagus supper!
If I do say so myself.

I fried me up a Black Angus boneless ribeye - and in another pan, sauteed up some sliced portabellas. Ribeye and mushrooms finished at same time, so I removed both to a plate and covered them. Then I deglazed the angus pan with a few ladles of the French Onion soup I've had simmering for 2 hours, added a bit of Half & Half, and then finished it off with a swirl of butter. In the mushroom pan, I added some butter, and then tossed in about 20 stalks of very thin asparagus and sauteed them, served them in a shallow long dish and covered with butter and salt. Then I poured the sauce on the ribeye/mushroom mix, and sat down at table and ate my fill!

YUM!!!!

4. Strange - that must be it, the two errors
Before I posted this (which will make it number 5), DU tells me that there are four posts in this thread - which means mine, yours, and your two failed ones.

I've never seen DU register errors before like this.

7. Mouth Immediately Waters Upon Reading About A Big Juicy Steak
mmmmmmmm..... steaaak......

(that's what I put. 3 times it didn't go through, but I think it's cause I put "<---" before the word mouth. Threw off DU somehow?)

8. That was the problem - you can't start a subject line with the less than
sign

Makes DU think your subject line is blank, and fucks everything up.

13. That doesn't matter - I've accidentally done it a lot,
and the space just gets left out.

At least, I think that's what happened.

Give it a shot!

3. You are a sadist, Mr. Rabarrrrr
I tell you again, sir... sadist. Actually, what would have made it perfect (in my humble opinion) would be some new potatoes, boiled, with just a soupcon of butter and garlic.

6. That would have been nice! But I will have potatoes tomorrow night.
I only have them rarely, never two days in a row.

And yes, I am a sadist! I eat these things only to make other people feel bad! Bwuhahahhahahha! Truth to tell, I don't even have taste buds! Or a sense of smell! Double bwuhahahahahaha!

10. Speaking of asparagus
I spent several days in the "Asparagus Capital of the World" (Trujillo in Peru). O. M. G.! Fresh and organic asparagus... nothing like the woody green stalks (canned, if you can believe it) we get up here. Steamed with a sprinkle of butter, garlic and some of the fresh local cheese. Okay, that's done it. I have to go find a towel to wipe off my keyboard.

Frying is a time-honored French tradition, by the way.

17. I don't broil. My broiler is electric,
and there's no sense in even turning it on.

But otherwise, yes, broiling is wonderfulment!!

But then you don't get the chance to make a nice sauce.

18. MMmmmmmmmmmmmmm .... Sacrilicious...
Frying a ribeye wouldn't be too bad. If the pan is really hot, it sears the outside as well as broiling.

23. Just remember, pan frying is a time honored tradition, even in France
And yes, one must use a hot pan.

I love the taste of a pan fried steak. 3-4 minutes on a side, comes out nice and medium rare, and leaves all sorts of delightful pieces in the pan to deglaze and make an amazing sauce from.

Except for asparagus, but that's a minor point. (I don't like foods that make my pee stink.)

A belated happy T-day to you, Rabrrrrrr.
