I am the richest man in the world.
I just watched a "Charlie Brown Christmas," video with my son.
He just turned 11 and he snuggled under a blanket with me and
said the lines along with the action. ...... Sometimes the very best things in
life are free.

"Of all the Charlie Browns in this World; You are the Charlie Brownie-est."

Did Snoopy ever win that prize for best-decorated house?

8. Yes
.... but they took the lights down in order to help Charlie's tree.
Schultz was light years ahead of his time .... In saying that too much
lights & glitz does not make the season better but detracts from it.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is 40 years old .... Schultz was a genius.

I gave my daughter her last piggyback ride Christmas of 1998. I felt the same, and knew that instant it was the last.

Enjoy the glow. Happy Thanksgiving.

4. My son is 8 and he knows every word, too
He's autistic and the Charlie Brown Christmas is one of his favorties.

He watches it in the middle of summer, too.

Along with "It's a Wonderful Life".

I have fond memories of it, too. It was one of those "must see" Christmas specials on TV, back in the '60s. An event.

20. There was a children's book I read dozens of times when I was small
text and not pictures, and how I wish I knew which one it was...but an adult in the book (not a parent) kept a tiny Christmas tree up all year, and plugged it in sometimes just-whenever, because she "felt like having a little Christmas" the child in the book visited often and began requesting this sometimes himself. I knew exactly what they meant : )

16. Schultz was very much a real Christian
Unlike the wacko right of today .....
He landed @ D Day and every June 6th he had a strip dedicated to the
men of D Day and with a powerful message that war is not the answer.

I still get chills when Linus walks on stage and says, "Lights please."
Pat Robertson could not even carry his pencils. Class is timeless.

Snow outside and we had the video .....
BTW most Christmas Carols make me :puke: if heard too early
and too often.

Except for, "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus," which one listening to
is one too many.

25. Wow. You need something else to hold as a peeve.
I see it as a moral story. NOT necessarily a Christian myth, but a story about how true emotion trumps gawdy display every time... Therefore I see it as relevent always, not just during the days following Thanksgiving.

But that's just me.

26. Um.. if you are talking about that cool jazzy theme song
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 12:09 AM by walldude
on the piano it was not Mancini who wrote it but a man named Vincent Guaraldi and the song is called Linus and Lucy, but is commonly called the Charlie Brown Theme song... Not trying to be an ass just giving credit where it's due... :toast:

On edit- I know what you mean Botany. I just got the whole CB holiday set on DVD and I love watching it with my kids...

21. OK - you brought a tear to my eye - this was my mom's favorite.
She's been gone 6 years now, and every time it comes on TV, I almost expect the phone to ring. She would call when came on, to make sure my kids wouldn't miss it. Thanks for sharing.

29. She does indeed, in so many ways
She enjoyed the simple message of A Charlie Brown Christmas. She grew up during the depression, and had to raise her siblings when her mother died. She knew what was important in life.

22. That is a very special thing. Glad you got to enjoy it
I remember watching those specials as a kid with my dad. Your son will have this as a memory for the rest of his life.

Last night, my 14 yr old son wanted me to watch him play his Xbox game. I have no clue what he was doing, but it was wonderful to just sit there listening to him explain his strategy and tell me several times how nice it was to have me there with him. You are right, sometimes the best things are the little ones.

28. By no means are "the little things" little.
Life is complicated ..... and somehow we make it even more.

I really doubt Dick Cheney with all his ill gotten millions could ever
feel like you did with your son & his Xbox.
