3. Nail biting, keeping my coat and keys at the ready stressful
First year I have been in a significant relationship during the holiday season. Also the first time that some of my family is going to meet him.

Some of my relatives are strong conservative religous right wingers and don't like gays.

10. I hope all goes well for you.
Is your partner nervous? The first time I went to a holiday dinner at the in laws had me shaking in my boots. As for the conservative "religious" right wing relative any snarky comments made from them reflect on them not you.

13. Not even sure if we are actually going or not
it is still not sure if he is even going or not. He is sort of scared of my family.

The real problem is how amazingly on opposite sides of the political spectrum we all are. Our family is about a 50/50 split of Dems and Repubs but none of us are centrist and it doesn't take much politic talk to get me upset lately, since Bush screwed up the response to Katrina that was when I lost all civility for the other side.

6. No Stress Here
It will be my husband, me, Scooter & Sable (our 2 mini doxies) and Shuggy (our cat). I am cooking and LOVING it. We eat off paper plates - no mess there. We watch a little football. And then time to rest. I love Thanksgiving at home. No Driving Anywhere, either

7. All my relatives are old and I'm recovering from flu. I doubt it if
I showed up making the bell go "ding-dong" and saying "I've just got over the flu, ask me anything!" to a bunch of people who could very well develop pneumonia from it and die and expect them to appreciate my showing up...

8. Hope you feel better soon hypno
Nothing worse then a hurling toad.
Also is the flu this year nastier then usual or is it just me?
My 7 year old had it two weeks ago and it knocked her down for 4 days.

11. Staying with my ditto-head bro- in-law in Tucson for 4 days and nights.

This is a guy who STILL thinks * is doing a great job.
We're looking at 1/5th of whiskey AND half bottle of Xanax weekend. Might be bail money involved too.

Actually, will likely turn out to be a bunch of beer with dinner on Thanksgiving, then leaving the wife with her sis and bro-in-law and heading to the mountains for a few days of hiking/camping. Unless I can talk her into coming with.

12. Should be OK.
It's going to be low-key...parents, sister, me, BF (who has met my parents but not my sister).

Last year was stress city -- I'd just announced my divorce, was hiding the fact I'd spent the previous night in my now-BF's (then-Reboung Fling's) apartment, and my grandparents were there giving me the third degree and driving everyone bonkers.

16. We boycott the clan for Thanksgiving and have a quiet family meal
Knowing that we'll be shoving 50some people into Grandma's living room for Christmas :eyes:

It will be a nice quiet, peaceful, loving Thanksgiving :hi:

17. I may have a drink or three
but it shouldn't be too bad this year. The husband and I have already done T-Day dinner with my family (the fundie right wingers) so we'll actually be spending Thursday with the fun family; his. Other than crazy puppies running around, the stress should be limited to the few minutes we stop by my parents. They'll be the reason I might have a drink due to stress, the other drink or drinks will be just for fun!

The only stress: cleaning up before and after!
