Rbnyc needs Karmic Focus

Most of you know that rbnyc is getting married tomorrow. Not many of you have heard yet that she will be getting married in a hospital bed.

Rene and one of her future brothers-in-law were involved in an automobile accident late last night. BIL is unharmed except for his psyche. He is such a sweet guy. He'll feel much better once he sees her.

Rene sustained a broken pelvis, broken tailbone, and broken ankle. All breaks were clean and should heal within six to eight weeks. I know you're all anxious to hear about the baby. All is well so far, and the doctors are keeping a very close eye on both my daughter and grandchild.

Every time I show up at the hospital, I'm with Cliff's mom. The hospital is getting to know us as "The Two Mothers." Just wait for tomorrow when Rene's step-mother is there, too! (Wonder if The Three Mothers should think about cutting a CD. LOL!)

I'm calling in positive thoughts from all my friends on the Internet. DU is the most important stop on the list.

and love to Rene... What a horrible thing to happen, and what awful timing.

However, what a deep reminder of how important each day is ... and for tomorrow how true the "today is the first day of the rest of your life"... may the tragedy bring a little bit of beauty/depth into the being in the moment of the wedding. (Lots of folks get so caught up in pulling the wedding off... all the details - that the 'being in the moment' gets lost - will report barely remembering a thing).

Thank you all for being such wonderful friends to Rene. She got to snuggle up with your responses last night as she finally got some sleep.

Her dad gave her a stuffed bear named Crash. Her room is filled with furry critters, flowers, and friends and family.

Rene's spirits are up (thanks in a big way to you at DU) and she's smiling again. It hurts when she laughs, though.

We should know in a few hours if she will be lying in bed or sitting in a wheelchair for the ceremony this afternoon. We already know that she will be beautiful - and the most chill bride every.

P.S. The wedding has been moved again. This time from the patient lounge in Orthopedics to the gymnasium.

P.P.S. Rene is in Stonybook University Hospital. Like a fla ma, I haven't got the address. She will be there until at least Monday, when the exit strategy gets put together and determination will be made if her egress is strategic.

I can't tell you how sorry I am. The broken tailbone WILL be a huge problem for her pregnancy. She'll probably have to plan a C section, as the bone may rebreak during labor. I broke mine at 16 and it takes an incredibly long time to heal. It's unbelievably painful. Every laugh, deep breath, cough or sneeze sends the most horrible pain shooting through you.

My heart goes out to you, rbnyc, and your whole family.
