2. I miss:
Handwritten letters
Phones that are just phones and nothing else
The quiet before cell phones took over
Rural streets - before they were turned into rural highways

Otherwise I still use a fountain pen, Montblanc or my trusty Pelikan. ;) And I live in a nice place, if there wouldn't be these rural highways which evokes the formula one pilot in every driver ...

my sister - she'd always watch my back. Need a friend in a fight? She was there.

Random casual sex.... Nobody wants to do it without a freaking "relationship".

But I agree with you on manual typewriters and fountain pens.

In fact I was just looking at that pic of you asleep on the train and realized I don't want to dedicate bad opera to you, just a little Kate Bush - Ne T'en Fuis Pas or maybe L'Amour Looks Something Like You.

80. I MISS BILL CLINTON!!!!!! TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the last month I purchased a new dvd burner that can connect to my computer & vcr and transfer vhs tapes to DVD. I was down in the basement looking for my old tapes that I haven't seen in years, to see if there's any project I want to start to convert to DVD, I found where I had on tape Bill's 93 Inauguration parade. It just hit me watching it how everything just seemed like so positive back then optimistic just seemed like so much hope for the future. Now 12 years later all that just seems stomped out, and I admit I got sad  and I had to turn it off. I miss that feeling, the last 5 years we have had none of that with the manchild (my nickname for W) in charge total opposite.

She asked to have her account deactivated. Please don't assume that a granite marker equates to a disruptor.

decide to have their accounts deactivated. It is very disturbing to see the granite marker and easy to assume it means disruptor.

but it does not work right any more. My doctor said it is early arthritis, but he also said his treatment would fix it in a few weeks, and that was clearly wrong. I can still walk, jog, and bike, after a fashion, but I pay for it with stiffness. I do not know if I can sprint.

glucosamine and chondroitin. It's a little pricey and it take a bit for it to work but if you take it for a few months you'll feel your joints shore up. It will strengthen and help you grow cartilage in your knees, which will reduce any inflammation and the grinding in joints that causes arthritis. Just look in the supplement section of your grocery store. Here is a pic of the kind I take. It's from Schiff, they are a pretty well-respected manufacturer with quality products.

17. My mother, America, my innocence, justice, health care, the ability to
live on one full-time salary, people stopping on the street to chat for a few minutes, the sense of commonality with any other citizen, the idea of right and wrong, talking to people that remembered how it was in the early 20th c, all my gay friends from the 80's, the understanding that just because we disagree on an issue we can still talk together, the art of conversation, films that tell a story (that's worth telling), tax supported public libraries, mass transit that was practical, cops that thought their primary job was to help, somewhat responsive government agencies, unions, looking forward to retirement, being unafraid to voice my true feelings, thoughts, and opinions, sand dollars on the beach, being able to sleep on the beach, vacations, understanding, compassion, local sports teams that had mostly the same players every year, being able to go to a game without taking out a second or third mortgage, food that was safe to eat, knowing my neighbors and having a community...

God, Damn Them.

My dad (gone since 1977).
I miss hot summers in Arkansas, hanging out with my cousins.
I miss my friends Genie and Christine, gone too soon.
I miss Motown music, Archie comics, and laughing the afternoon away, all at the same time, with my sister Kathy and my friend DeeDee (ah, those early teen years).
I miss living on Capital Hill in Seattle -- best neighborhood ever.
I miss the days when I didn't have as many responsibilities as I do now, when little things were the most important things.

I'm going back to work now...this has made me feel a little melancholy.

60. omg
you and I need to get together at a DU meetup.

I could have written that list in addition to mine---

The original list is mine; I was posting under Michael's name.

I loved Di, Grace, and Jackie. When Diana died, there was not another reason to buy a women's magazine in my opinion. Reese Witherspoon MIGHT save us...but...that remains to be seen.

63. Well, hello soulmate!
I have never gotten over Di's death. I was absolutely fascinated by her. I read everything ever written and bought most of the books, even though I was aware most was trash. I really don't quite know why the fascination. I had been married ten years when she married..maybe I was envious of her life, I don't know. I was equally upset when Grace died, mostly because she was a big LaLeche proponent back before it was cool to breastfeed. And I thought Jackie was a total class act.

64. Many things
1. Having a visionary, courageous and compassionate President in the White House who had the interests of both the US and the world at heart and whom you could trust to always do the right thing
2. Having a Prime Minister with a similar disposition in my own country
3. My grandparents on both sides -my paternal grandfather whom I knew only briefly and of whom my memories are vague, my paternal grandmother who I became quite close to and my maternal grandfather who was such a loving, caring and inspirational person in my life. Thank God I still have my maternal grandmother
4. Life before September 11 -which was especially good for me
5. A number of friends and relatives who are now deceased and who either played a significant role in my life or who are people I wish I could remember more about
5. My university days

110. Here is good list
My various deceased grandparents.
Here is my mostly deceased grandparent.

I miss the days when total communication wasn't needed. (God I hate cell phones and these things that make people look like they are part of the Borg)

I miss Freddie Mercury, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael Hutchence.

I miss clean air, lakes, rivers and oceans.

I miss being fun-loving and care-free.

I miss having respectable government.

I miss having a respectable media with true journalists; no media hacks.

To lesser extents, I miss having privacy. With two young kids, it is non-existent. However, having said that my kids are what keep me going to make sure they have as good a place to live or better than I ever had.
