1. no, and people who say that you have to go to a certain city for a "pie"
because they don't make good pizza anywhere else are provincial assholes.

43. Irony.
What is now known as New York Style Pizza was invented in New Haven CT by a guy running an Italian deli named Pepe's in the 1910's. You can't get near the place now because it's famous and a pie is now like $25. It's near Yale.

Different regions, different pizzas.

I will say that you can't get decent pizza at all in some places (the rural Carolinas. I knew I was in trouble in DC when Pizza Boli won a "best delivery pizza in the city" contest.) and some places have ideosyncratic regional oddities that will drive you batty.

Three different places in VT put maple breakfast links on my sausage pizza years ago when I spent a month up there as a child on a family vacation; when I was in Houston on a business trip, they used masa harina to "flour" the crust base to keep it from burning to the oven, Boston I got pizza with a crust an inch thick, Jacksonville, FL I got crust the thickness of a sheet of notebook paper. Philly I got pizza with so much topping that it fell off because there wasn't enough cheese to hold it. Maryland I got pizza that left a puddle of cheese behind on the plate and was so greasy that I felt my arteries clogging.

saying it now, you could easily confuse people who think you are referring to a pie of the frosted apple variety since you do not normally describe a pizza in that manner

That's Amore Lyrics

When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore

(When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella
Lucky fella

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool)
That's amore
(When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli)
That's amore
Lucky fella

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool)

(When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not

That's amore, (amore)

I used to love Papa Dels with a passion. One of my three favorite pizza places in the world. Knew a couple folks who worked there too.

We used to get an invention of our own -- the Triple Threat, deep dish with sausage, pepperoni and bacon. So, so good...

At various times.

And I've lived in the shadow of Chicago and in NYC. Just for the record.

Why? Cause that's what some folks call it.

Is one city's pizza better than the other? Yes. Chicago style beats NYC style, hands down.
