Send me positive vibes, please.
I applied for a job today, handing in the resume in person.

It pays 50% more than I'm getting before taking stress leave last week.

No driving involved.

It's something I like doing.

It's at my alma mater.

Prayers, engergies, whatever, please.

1. Done!!
Good luck to you. Hope you get it.

On top of that, I hope you hear that you got it right away. The waiting sucks.

9. More photos, Kali?
is that the home place? What is the stocking rate? From the looks of what I see it must be 30 acres per AUM.

17. Ha! It's 80 as a general rule (Nat. Resouce Conservation Service)
and that was taken in June when it really should have been about 600 acres/head, but I lucked out again and it finally rained a bit. I should go do a retake at that spot - it looks a little different now. Actual rate is around 65 to 75 A/AUM. As is normal in the west, we take up some slack on the private land where resources are a little better and regulations don't apply.

How DOES Canada handle rangland ownership? Is it all private or are there Province and "Federal" leases like in the US? I am talking about the drier places where the rates are like mine and you need a lot of land for relatively few animals. I know Texas is mostly private, but most of the rest of the west is a crazy conglomeration of many owners. Rarely does anybody own title to the entire operation. Ours is about 80% State trust land, 12% private and a bit less than 8% BLM (one division of Federal)

I will make an effort to get some photos in the next couple of days - doing a fence up the side of a mountain so good for views! If I can just remember the dang camera.

What is the new job going to be?

20. The job is just an application, so far. First step, etc.
It's construction management, which I can do in my sleep.

I like the livestock inspection but it's killing me.

In the western provinces ranching (as opposed to farming) is generally in an arc down the Rocky Mountains and then east through southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. It's originally shortgrass, tallgrass and fescue prairie. Most ranches have only small amounts od deeded land, relying on Provincially owned "Crown" land and long-term leases. The long term of the leases encourages stwearship of the land as opposed to overgrazing.

Stocking rates vary, running from 10 acres per AU to 30 AU, varying by grass type, which is dependent on precipitation patterns.

In the mountains it might be 200 acres per Animal Unit. The tress, and all, you know.
