I know there is a way to do it by going to Tools, Internet Options, then Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files (Internet Explorer). I thought there was another way to do it. The way I used to do it would erase all my cookies but evidently when I do this one it leaves me logged on in my regular places. Anybody know the other way to do it?
Another way to do it is go to Start ---> Search ---> For files or Folders and type in the word 'cookies'. It takes awhile and you will see them on the right in the box. You must open the folders and delete them but it will not alllow you to delete the index.
You may find several folders with cookies in them. You need to check each folder to be certain you've gotten rid of them all.
Also, the program 'spybot' which you can d/l for free I would highly recommend as you can delete all tracking cookies sent to you while you are online. Spybot can be downloaded off the net - search under the words 'download spybot'.
....it removes a lot of useless clutter from your H/D. You can select what to save/remove for every wash. Cleans out a lot of folders, not just your browser(s).
At the bottom of the window that pops up there is a button that is labled "View Files". Click on that button and all of your cookies will show up.
You can delete the cookies from that file one by one or enmass as you choose by highlighting the cookie(s) to be deleted and then clicking delete in the file drop down menu.
If you get the paid version of AdAware, it's supposed to stop bad cookies and spyware from even getting on your system.
Another program that prevents cookies and spyware is SpywareBlaster -but it has a limited selection of cookies and it didn't prevent iWon from putting Aornum spyware on my system when I tried the iWon prize machine.
ZoneAlarm 4 Pro has an option to delete tracking cookies, and so far it seems to be doing a decent job. I still find some.
