I am forming a DU athletic department....

eventually we will field major football, basketball, baseball, hockey, bowling, croquet, horseshoes and other teams. But first we need a nickname and mascot, dammit! It's all about the nickname anyway. So post your suggestions now.... the DU ___________. For those who don't keep in touch with such things -- lions, tigers, bears, cats, dawgs, banana slugs, and most birds are already taken by other schools. Ocelots may be available, also kangaroos, sloths, skunks and several other disrepsected species. Moonbeams is available. I'm thinking the DU Skinners, and our mascot could be one of those guys that rips the hide off rabbits and stuff. That could be very scary to our (future) opponents.

Fighting Oranges is too close to Orangemen. Not only does Syracuse suck but their mascot is a citrus fruit and they're in a crappy location where citrus doesn't grow. That's not even getting into what an Orange or an Orangeman is historically. Hint: Offensive to Irish people, highland Scots and Catholics.

I'm not keen on the Skinners either...too violent. Perhaps we could name it after one of the other Admins...the DU Elads? DU EarlGs?

Oooh...The DU Acadians. It's unique...they're representative of liberal values and it kicks ass...pacifistically and communally, of course.
