Anybody know anything about Chinese herbal medicine?

I live in an area with a large Asian population. I'd just bet there is a Chinese herbalist around here. I have a friend who has some health problems (migraines, bone loss and fibroid tumors - she's a freakin' mess!). I was wondering if Chinese medicine could do anything for her?

1. My husband's friend's mother practices Chinese medicine

She gave me a concoction for my digestive problems. I'm not sure if it worked at all. I only took it for a few times. I temporarily felt sicker after taking it because it tasted disgesting. Supposedly it does help though with many chronic conditions that Western medicine doesn't always do a good job of controlling especially without bad side effects.

2. I was thkning of trying it out but I cant

find a doctor around here that does it. I found 'naturopaths' but are they the same thing??? I'm sick of drugs and the side effects they produce. Hell, I got a bacterial infection (c-diff) from an antibiotic!!
