The Extended Ya-Ya Sisterhood
I hated that feel-good movie when I first saw it; in my bitterness, I thought the happy ending was utterly unrealistic and saccharine. I'm watching it again for the third time and of course, I'm just another Ya-Ya. Humor and loyalty make this possible. I have my crazy, insane girlfriends. We are there for each other no matter what. We're flawed. We drink, smoke, cuss, fight, what have you. But we look after each other.

You guys are welcome to the extended family, and all you Yankees come aboard.

And cheers to all of you, my fellow Dems, for being part of the truth. :toast:

I don't really have a pack of girlfriends like that, though I do have a couple individual friends I can be that way with (and they don't know each other).

But we are a pack. You forget, my love, that our lists and thought-scraps will do the pack good. You have the makings of a righteous YaYa babe, and we won't let you forget it. Your power speaks for itself.

26. Well, the movie resonated with my days in Girl Scouts.
We were not "normal" Girl Scouts. Those cookies? Well, they were half hash, you see. And our bonfires? Don't believe a word; we sought out old barns. And our dealings with Boy Scouts?

They ran screaming, with no recourse.

Let me know if you want more information; I'll be happy to provide.

There is such a huge difference between the Ya-Ya books and the movie. If you haven't already, you should read it and Wells' other book, "Little Alters Everywhere."

that one that will put you in the floor, it is so funny.

The children are spending the night at Buggy's and it involves Buggy's pet and very spoiled doggie.

Being a YAYA is a very special thing, I think. "Keeper of Recipes for foods both heathy and not", that would be me

There is now a third book, I believe.

I also enjoyed the books more, but the characterizations of the YaYas were great, especially when they gang up on Sid and kidnap her.

38. Hey, CornField!!!!
:hi: Hey! I know what you mean about the movie sucking, because that's what I'd thought at first.

I changed my mind & let it sort of grow on me. I liked S. Bullock's performance in "28 Days" and then I watched "YaYa" again. The thing that drove me to loving the latter, ultimately, was Ellen Burstyn. I saw her again in the Exorcist and I just love that gal all around.
