Poll question: Would you date a guy who had a physical deformity?
Including ones like scars from fights and things?

Seriously.

You're whereever you are and you see an 'odd' looking person.

Especially if you're gay, we have this stigma of only going after perfect looking men.

1. What kind of "deformity?"
Scars? I wouldn't really consider scars a deformity.

7. Like on the face or some visible area?
Personally, I really wouldn't care. A scar is just a scar. I've got a bunch of them on my knees from when I was young. I wouldn't not date a guy just because of some scars.

2. Well if it's scars, I'm kinda screwed.
Nothing on my face though, but I have several battle wounds on my limbs. I tend to wear them with pride.

3. I've scars too.
Won't say where or why for most of them... though 2 of them came from surgery. :D

6. Wouldn't bother me a bit
I married the perfect looking cutie of course...but, if something happened to his looks, I wouldn't give a damn.

If something had happened to him before we met, I would not have given a damn about that, either.

We are just fortunate so far.

8. Okay, seriously? And I know this may be one of those "joke" threads,
but anyone who honestly doesn't want to date a person who isn't physically perfect? Is an asswipe. How can people allow their feelings for others to be stifled by the shallow constraints of physical attraction? Oh, right, American media and its promotion of the Mythical Norm for both men and women. Except...I was raised in America, absolutely drowning in a swill of television and advertising. I've never been compelled to base my attraction for another person on physical appeal alone. I don't understand people who do that. They must have such limited perspectives, such tiny minds. And such unsatisfying relationships. I feel sorry for them sometimes.

9. This thread really hits home for me.
See...I have a little baby arm growing out of my back as the result of absorbing a fraternal twin while we were in the womb. It really sucks trying to find shirts that fit without having to make a little cut-out for the baby arm to stick out.

On the other hand, the baby arm is very polite and waves goodbye to people as I'm leaving the room.

15. Oh Man... That's Cool!
Does it have a "mind of its own" or can you control it yourself?

I'll bet it's really great to be able to scratch your own back, or lather it up in the shower.

Does it ever try to trick you by quietly tapping you on your shoulder... then you look around to see who's there... but it's really yourself... tricking yourself!

Cool!

30. He could raise the baby arm to the sky and say "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL"
And then lightning would hit it and transform it into some kind of medieval-looking kudgel, which would then totally WHALE on Skeletor, showing no mercy. Aw, FUCK YEAH!

The one that had no arms or legs. My atavistic response would be to run away. On the other hand I've always been a sucker for someone with a good sense of humor. Crack me up and you're half way there.

23. Absolutely
I dated a Vietnam vet who's a quadraplegic - we had to find new and unusual ways to have sex, but I learned a lot from him. And will always be thankful to him for that.

The man I love most is covered in scars from being repeatedly stabbed and from medical people trying to save his life. For a long time he wouldn't let me see them. When he did I handled it badly - I said "Oh my Gods!" but not because I was disgusted but because I was shocked that anyone could hurt someone I love so much.

My own body is covered in scars. I'm not ashamed of them. They mark who I am and who I have been. I feel the same way about other people's bodies.

In the gay community a perfect body is requried if you have any hope of having self esteem. But it's the same among straights (ask any woman! ( what's the difference between a straight woman and a lesbian - 20 lbs)).

But we aren't all the same - some of us can see the beauty in the so-called "unbeautiful".

Khash.

33. Went out a couple times with a guy who had lost an arm
in a car accident. He was a real asshole. His friends said he was before the accident too so guess it didn't change who he was much.

His prosthesis creeped me out more than just the natural stump. It was this hard plastic bandaid-tan mannequin arm - I really didn't like it.

But because I don't want to date violent people. I know there are other reasons buried in his past, but there are also other fish in the sea.

35. I know of this problem well.
John Holmes and I share certain "deformities" and I find myself self-conscious sometimes, when it's just out there, mocking the baby elephants.

Sigh.

36. Scars are deformities? I have stretch marks and acne scars....
I AM DEFORMED!!

So I guess my answer to that question is yes. I mean, if not, I'd have some serious self-hatred issues.

OMG it so doesn't matter what men look like, I don't know how many times I have to say it. It's all about the skills. People need to watch Napoleon Dynamite and understand these fundamental truths.

I'd also take this opportunity to declare that I know of a few small scars my sweet baby Shah Rukh Khan has, and he is ridiculously hot.
