Little Boxes, On The Hillside, Little Boxes Made Of Ticky Tacky...
Did anyone else enjoy watching Showtime's new series "Weeds"? I thought it was marvelous, and I wish they had bought more episodes of it. (I guess they were playing it safe when they decided to have a very short first season.)

I hope they decide to bring it back again for another season.

~Allen

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,

There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

1. just about my all time favorite folk song
Malvina Reynolds :)

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,

There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

And the people in the houses
all went the university
where they were put in boxes
and they came out just the same

there's doctors and lawyers and business executives
and they're all made out of ticky tacky
and they all look just the same
and they all play on the golf course
and drink their matrini's dry
and they all have pretty children
and the children go to school
and the children go to summer camp
and then to the university where they're all put in boxes
and the come out all the same

and the boys go into business and marry and raise a family
in boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

7. Great list!!
My kids are really into the Stones right now, and my mix CD which has AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Elton John, Meatloaf, and assorted other ne'er do wells.

I love exposing them to a variety of music. The best part is when the teenager complains about what I am listening to in the car and then I catch her singing along.

18. What Year Was That Song Written?
If I had to guess, I'd guess in the 1940's or 50's.

5. hate that song
The sneering superiority of the writer who just loves to judge her fellow citizens. What a snob.

10. I loved that show!
But now I have an ear worm. :spank:

And, after the last scene (i think it was the last scene)of the season, I cannot wait to see what happens next season.

I'm talking about the scene where she goes into the bathroom at her lover's house and sees the T-shirt she is wearing in the mirror.

16. I Wonder How Many People Never Click On This Thread...
... because they have NO IDEA what the subject line is about.

Also... I wonder how many people IMMEDIATELY suspected that this thread was about "Weeds" because of the lyrics in the subject line?

Hmmm.

:hi:

20. It's funny... but that is the one intro that I like to watch every time.

I fast-forward any other show's intro. I love the song and I love what they've done with it. And I'm definitely in the group that assumed you meant "Weeds."

23. It Took Me Four Episodes Before I Realized What Was Going On In The Intro.
I never noticed that the people are all the same for each scene. The woman jogger, the man jogger, the man coming out of the Starbucks, etc etc.

When I finally realized it... I felt incredibly stupid for having missed it the for so long.
