some pics from the city I live in
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 04:00 AM by MissHoneychurch
thought I share with you

Edit: On request: this is Frankfurt, Germany. The city lays on the river Main. The pictures were taken from a tower in the eving last week. You see the inner city on these pictures.

btw: I took the pics myself :D

2. nice pictures
you should have put some descriptive text with them so those of us who have never been to Germany have an idea what we're seeing. :)

What river is that in the third pic?

:hi:

:)

but honestly, I like Frankfurt. I enjoy living here, even though I heard it is the most expensive city in Europe after London and Paris. In Frankfurt sits the European Bank. Frankfurt is a bank town. All the towers are bank towers. In Germany it is the only city with a skyline. it is a international city but still small enough to not feel lost.

5. Beautiful pics MissHoneychurch....
...they remind me of one I've got hanging on my office wall. It was taken by a friend of mine who was stationed in Heidelberg, and its of the beautiful castle there that is lit up during a celebration of when it was burned, I believe, on three occasions. He took it at night on an opposite hill and its very vibrant.

16. Great pictures as always, Misshoneychurch. They could almost console me
with that city... I know you like it but I really can't; but then I'm a small town person by nature and conviction:)

You are truly a very good photographer!

20. Great pics Miss Honeychurch
I particularly like the older building with the high-pitched roofs - so very Old German - I'd imagine many of those buildings were restored after WWII ??

And the lack of skyscrapers is noticeable - is that intended ??

when I took the pictures. We have some in Frankfurt. Here is a picture of Frankfurt from a bit further away.

Frankfurt is btw the only city with skyscrapers in Germany.

27. It seems incongruous - the skyscrapers and the green fields
in the foreground - but I'm glad that those buildings have been restricted. They seem so out of place.

Thanks for sharing !!!

29. to tell the truth
I love the skyline. It is something special for me. Everytime I see it I know I am home. This is the first city in Germany I lived in that I feel close to, that I can call "home". It is hard to describe.

21. Very pretty!
The daughter of one of our neighbors lives there, too. Fun thing is, living kind of next door, I never was in Germany yet. Driven through or flown over, but that's it.

Great pictures!

I envy you. Our old architecture includes building that are less than a hundred years old. Sad. :hi:

36. Won't know 'til next year
I have a major reunion mid-July, so the game schedule is not a problem. Visited the West Coast this year, so I won't have to go next year. Provided the parents stay well and out of the hospital (they spent a few days there last month) and I'm not needed, I'll get to go in June. The only uncertainty is if Teacher plans a trip to China, which will likely be at least 2 weeks.
