OMG! This is bad... very very bad
I will be turning 50 in 10 days! Someone, please, hold me. However, on the bright side, it's better than the alternative.

1. They keep saying that 50 is the new 30.

I guess that means I should be turning 20?

Anyway...I hear 50 is pretty fabulous these days!

My ex turned 50 in June.

2. They lie. They all lie.
50 is not the new 30. There are a few things that are true. I do not look like my grandmother did when she was 50. Today, she would look about 80. However, the wear and tear on the joints... that is something that can't be negated. BTW, my ex will be 31 this year. So, yes, somethings (heeee) are better. And 50 can be pretty FABULOUS unless you start talking about hot flashes and sore joints... then, not so much. I don't feel 50. 50 is old. I don't feel old. Nor do I look 50. But, with cold weather, inactivity, etc. I'm not doing what I could do when I was 30. I don't remember things, I have very sore joints, I'm afraid of falling, I have no one HERE. But. In the long run I will probably live a lot longer than my maternal grandparents (who died in their early 60s - back in the '50s). I hope to reach 70. Cause I can't afford to live any longer than that.

5. Thank you CP
Wow! You're old. just kidding. I am very happy that you are content in your life. I want to be where you are now. Maybe, someday. But, regardless, you are the best. It's funny... everytime I reach a certain point in life (i.e. reaching 30, 40 or 50) I always do something completely outside my current lifestyle. I moved across the country at 30, at 40 I went back to school. Who knows what I will do at 50? Hopefully, something good and productive. But, again <<<<<hugs>>>>> back at you.

4. 50 is coooool!
You no longer have to feel bad about not competing. You start to get 10% off some thrift stores. You can walk proudly and think "F* you, I'm hot shit and you should know it" whenever and wherever you want. 50 is great. Congratulations.

10. You are young! My grandmother lives with us and she's 94.
Everyone's young to me! Good luck on the next 10 days and the next 50 years.

12. 50. Been there
Diverticulitis, arthritis.. good times!

You fall and hurt yourself and it doesn't get better for six months.

Your teeth get kinda funny colored. Your hair gets gray and kinky...everywhere. You get these little bumpy scaley things on your legs.

But: you don't give a shit at work and when somebody pisses you off you tell them; your kids are grown up or non existant and you don't worry about that anymore because you biological clock exploded; you don't bounce many checks anymore; you pay off your credit cards; your parents are gone and it is a huge relief (altho you cherish memories); you don't feel you have to prove yourself anymore...

there are perks.
