1. Former Dade Resident
I live in Broward now, but Aventura is on the part of Dade closest to Broward, it's an exclusive country club area that is kept up really well, and if you are considering a move to Aventura, good pick! Even Coral Gables is no longer so crime free. Miami Beach is safe, too. I am not a big fan of Dade, Broward, and SoFla in general, but it certainly has nice parts. :)

3. Aventura has a mall.
It has a nice Christmas train ride during the holidays set up in the center.

I hear Kendall(?) is the desired place for those who work downtown. But it's pricey. If you have small children, Coral Gables is nice. Also pricey.

Just be smart and use your common sense. You'll do just fine.

4. No to Kendall
IMO, Kendall is way too congested. There is "good high-density" such as say Bethesda/Chevy Chase MD and then you have Kendall, which is dense but with virtually no mass transit and just poor planning. Some exciting new apartment towers are going up, expensive indeed, but it's just really congested.

8. Yes, VERY congested
it once was (and maybe still is) to be the place to live, but if you don't like sitting in traffic everywhere you go, then Kendall's not for you.

Nice, safe, clean, pretty - in fact it's Senator Graham's hometown.

Edit: It's no longer Dade County, it's Miami-Dade County. :)

6. Ah, yes
A hometown feel in the middle of an urban area, nice indeed! Walking down Main Street there is always a nice feeling.

Allapatah, or Hialeah.

You'll love it at any of those places, and jiacinto, I think you will fit right in. :P

14. Well-dressed Flamingo
Were you aware that you can buy lawn Flamingos that you can dress up to fit the seasons of the year? There's santa claus outfits and little leprechaun outfits for St. Patty's day. My sister bought one for my mother on her 80th birthday. I think my sister still has issues from her childhood days.

11. someplace else
Choose someplace else in Fla. unless you like totally urbanized. Dade is pretty much all city. I would say lock the car/lock the door 'everywhere.'

12. Aventura is expensive
but there are neigborhoods in the area that are safe and less pricey. If I were moving there with no kids, I would live right in Miami.

Oh, I know, try Miami Shores. Again it is a mix of good and bad neighborhoods. It is close to Miami and the prices should be reasonable.
