Dogs and telephones- does your dog/dogs do this?
I am sitting here on a quiet sunday morning and had to make a phone call. The dogs (all six of them) are on their doggie beds napping. They are out of it.
I pick up the phone and am talking to a customer service person in India. Moe decides there is something outside that needs to be barked at. He starts and gets all the others going.
It happens every time I make a phone call. They always just start barking for no apparent reason.

1. They Have a Chip in Their Head for Getting "Set Off"
Mine don't do that but know when a call is over. When a long, chatty call comes to an end, with the attendant pacing outside, they immediately perk up ready to go inside.

2. Mine Does A Variation Of That... She'll Find A Squeaky Toy And
she'll squeak-squeak-squeak it continuously whenever I'm on the phone or talking to my partner. I can only figure that it's the equivalent to a 5-year-old child's demands for attention. "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy... DADDY...look at me. Daddy look. Look Daddy! Hey Daddy, DADDY... LOOK!"

3. My dog doesn't like the phone
Yes, he barks when it rings. Sometimes he settles down after I've been talking a while. Sometimes he doesn't. If I bring the phone close to him, especially if someone is talking, he starts growling.

4. My dogs hate the phone.
If they recognize the voice, they'll bark or attack the phone. From their point of view, someone is probably in trouble.
