Kitten rescued from drain pipe
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 12:40 PM by Algorem
CLEVELAND -- A little critter is safe tonight after being rescued from beneath the street.

The kitten doesn't have a name, but it is safe and sound Friday evening.

And that's something, considering it was stuck in a drain pipe underneath East 12th Street Friday morning.

Rescue crews from the Animal Protective League set a humane trap and were able to get the kitten out safely.

1. Poor little thing!
I'm glad they were able to rescue it.

Years ago, I had a cat who had a litter under my bed. She evidently got sick of me peeking under there (I wasn't even touching the babies but she was pretty protective) and she moved the kittens. We weren't sure where she'd moved them until one evening my hubby and I were in our room and in came Muffin with a kitten in her mouth, looking harassed and worried.

She went back and forth and we followed to see her go up through a hole in the top of the spare bedroom's closet and come out with a kitten. She continued until she had four kittens under the bed but she'd had five.

So we shoved her up into the hole again and told her to get the fifth kitten. She dutifully went in and we waited but she came back empty-mouthed and crying. We didn't know what to do.

Then we heard squeaking in the wall of the bedroom. The poor kitten must have crawled to the edge of the walls and fallen down between the studs - luckily he'd gotten hung up on something because he hadn't gone all the way to the bottom floor!

We had to cut open a hole in the drywall to get him out - he was covered in insulation but we cleaned him up and he grew up to be a very large and beautiful cat.

3. excellent stuff-can always use good some good news
there's a young cat around here she's been around since last year I know she's gotta be spayed because she'd have already had kids by now I can't tell if someone thinks she's their cat or not if so they must not let her in or feed her (much) because i've been feeding her since then but she is clean and healthy and affectionate(had to be someone's cat sometime) but i'm gonna bring her in soon before the weather gets cold again and see if she likes it
