Getting a past-life reading tommorow.
Does anyone want to guess what I used to be?

I've heard a lot of things: mute astrologer in Thailand who died of typhoid fever, French aristocrat's wife, (I was married to a lot of aristocrats, actually) Africa tribe's prize spear-thrower (seriously).

1. I believe in reincarnation but . . .
I wonder why none of us recall past lives as slugs or mean people or lepers?

That's not a criticism, BlueIris. I don't recall any of my past lives, so you're ahead of me.

3. I know a number of people who remember being mean people
I also know a number of people who recall utterly ordinary past lives where nothing that unusual happened.

For what it's worth, I tend not to put much stock in past-life "readings." The psychic may not get accurate information, or may not know how to interpret images and sensations he/she does perceive. I think regression is a more accurate way to go.

But mostly, i think if you don't have past-life issues intruding onto your life now, it's better to just leave it alone and not open that can of worms. You might discover something awful happened to you, or worse, you did something awful, and end up with terrible insomnia, nightmares, panic attacks, or other trouble. Most everyone I know who recalls past lives wishes they didn't.

6. How do I put this delicately...
thanks, but I've done this before. I'm prepared for all the conceivable eventualities (including getting a less-than-reliable reader). I've also got professional, non-paranormal help I can access if anything unusual happens. This thread was mostly just for fun, to see if others DUers wanted to guess about my past-life issues before I get said reading.

7. Good
Every so often I like to go out with friends who know their own histories and see if psychics get it right. Usually they don't know what to do with the images they're getting.

4. Oh, I don't *recall* my past lives...
not exactly, anyway. One reason I'm having this reading is that I feel I have some issues that have no source in this lifetime of which I am aware. I'm trying to sort these problems out, and input about their origins from a reader who may sense any "karmic" tensions I may have, could be helpful, I feel. But all the concrete input I have about my past lives is from other readings I've had (only three--PL readers are actually DAMN hard to come by in my area, don't know why).

5. From what I've seen karma isn't a matter of reward/punishment
What kinds of issues do you have? You can PM me if you don't want to say it in public. I have lots of resources.

8. So, do you...have any guesses about what I was in a past life?
You know, the reason I started this thread? :-)

17. Sometimes I dream about living in the 19th century.
That happened a couple of days ago, come to think of it.

I've also dreamed about living in various places in the late '60s/early-to-mid '70s. I would actually like to find out more about that, as I was born in '79. I feel that if my dreams of those other times are indicative of past-life impressions, they might be of my last life.

19. Interesting!
The late 60's/early 70's look like they were a fun time. If I had a time machine, I'd go to Woodstock.

12. Heh.
I'm kinda wondering if this reader will sense anything "political" in my past, actually.

14. Oh, that was an actual impression?
Sorry, I thought you were kidding. Killed in the Night of the Long Knives, eh? Hmmm.

2. Your lives sound a heckuva lot more interesting than mine
I was told by a group of psychic students that I had been a nun.

10. Come on, a nun in a previous life could be VERY interesting.
It's interesting that you would post that...I've always wanted to know what a nun's life was like in other decades or centuries.

16. I did feel very much at home
in the nurses' dorm at a hospital nursing school, perhaps the closest thing to a convent that I've experienced in this lifetime!
If I was a nun I feel I wanted to leave, maybe I died because of that.
