Oh, hey, I was thinkin' about aquaspawn the other day --- > Be sure you buy him a copy of Maurice Sendak's wonderful book, "Where the Wild Things Are." It was first published the year I was born, and it's always been one of my favorite books for kids.

I could go for this all the time. They've got their county fairs when the midwest has their snowstorms. I've always wanted to live somewhere around the Gulf. That's a big goal of mine.

The doctor numbed it and gave me vicodin for pain. It is almost grown out but I have to wear this guard to protect the tender skin. It makes typing a real challenge.

32. Having lived through Watergate (it broke open shortly after
I graduated from high school), I'm really not. I mean, I would love to have seen Rove take a hit today too, but remember, Watergate was originally "a third rate burglary", and ended with the resignation of the President of the United States. Patience, dear Heidi! I know, these crooks have gotten away with so much, for so long, that it's easy to feel disappointed. But I have hope, I really do!

37. They are different times, indeed,
but what I hang onto is this: nothing EVER stays the same. No matter how many times we've been disappointed, no matter how many "here we go again" moments we go through, in the end, things DO change.

I must confess, right now, though, I am feeling really pissed off listening to Tony Snow from Faux News bloviating about how the indictment is not a big deal, "everybody knew" Valerie Plame was CIA, she had not been working undercover for over five years, blah blah blah, right wing talking points. Puke!

But back to my original point -- I do feel hopeful.

43. The fact that life is cyclical is what keeps me from becoming
truly cynical.

I don't even listen to the news or watch CNN World Report anymore. It's mental and spiritual pollution.

My husband, one of the most even-tempered person I have ever know, as well as pretty optimistic, told me the other day he was really bothered about how cynical he had become.

48. I know how he feels.
The way I gauge my cynicism is, "Am I failing to treat others with love, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity?" So far, I think I'm OK, but I keep an eye on my cynicism levels, for sure.

Thank you for being a light in the Lounge, sweetie.

49. Fortunately, my husband usually talks about it -- not always
right away, but eventually, especially if I ask him why he's being such a crabcake!

The Birthday Trifecta was great. We went to a plase called Carnegie's. There were 12 items on the lunch menu, and 10 of them were things I just wouldn't eat (I'm a picky eater), but I ended up having a fabulous omlette with Black Forest Ham. And I had chocolate torte for dessert. Yum!!!!!

When your Post finally arrives, two points:

1. When I wrote the big postcard, I didn't yet have the regular "wine package" from the Post, so ignore the "I'm just sending these things" meandering.

2. There's a mani stone in the package that Call Me Wesley didn't explain, but you probably already know what that is.

But I couldn't stay away. I missed the connection and the friendships.

I'm actually cooking chicken, odd for me, since I'm pretty much a vegetarian. But my friend isn't, and I'm seeing him, tomorrow, and I really like to cook for people. I'm Polish, and that's what we do... It used to really bother me to deal with meat, at all, but my vet made me cook for my dogs, liver (ick!) so I've gotten used to it. So I made chicken, mashed potatoes and the gravy's still on the stove. There's plenty, if you want to join us...:D

69. I'm good!
I didn't check in at all Wednesday, and was only around for a little while last night. I think I signed off before you signed on. I'm trying to cut back on my DU addiction a little, and finish the 3 books I have going simultaneously! :hi:

99. I am preparing to travel back in time...
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 01:46 AM by MadAsHellNewYorker
at exactly 2:59 am I will be 60 seconds from riding a temporal wave back to October 30, 2005 at 2:00 am. It will be a pretty exciting ride and I plan on bringing the entire east coast of America with me :D

Other then that, just relaxing :smoke:

enjoy your next cup! :hug::hangover::hug:

Where have you been in SC. I agree, this state is nice, other than the ignorance. I would not leave here, I like being in the minority on the political realm, it makes me want to FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT..with non-violence of course.

105. In the early 70s . . .
my father moved the family to Kentucky for a summer and during that time made it a point to give us kids a grand tour of the south, including S. Carolina. That was an excellent time.

86. Great picture.......
Liberals from the south are a special breed. They are usually the most hardcore about their political beliefs because they are so outnumbered. I wore my "jesus was a liberal" shirt to Kmart today and some folks looked at me like I was the antichrist.

98. What a coinky-dink!
Call Me Wesley did our giant pumpkin yesterday! I'll try and get a photo of it before Halloween. (We gave the seeds to my sister-in-law, though because I haven't discovered an easy way of salting and toasting them. )

 What's on your Sunday agenda. Do you have to work Sunday night? :loveya:

106. I've had a jones for pumpkin seeds
ever since I was a kid; it's never gone away:)

I'm off til Wed; tomorrow night the station is playing in it's entirety fellow DUer Liberal Andy's band The Near Myths' new CD called "Wilson"; it's a great record, so I hope everybody tunes in.

And on Halloween evening the station is playing 12 hours of the scariest OTR shows I could find; shows like "Lights Out", "Suspense", "Inner Snactumn", "The Hermit's Cave", and of course, Orson Welles' "War Of The Worlds". It's gonna be fun;)
