I've been a member of DU for a year now.

I wanted to thank all of you for making it such a special experience.

I've shared some of the best and worst of what the past 12 months have had to offer with all of you wonderful people.

We've shared dreams, hopes and cried on each others shoulders. I've grown to love many of you in ways I would never have thought possible.

14. It's sure been a rollercoaster. And was a source of comfort before,

during and after election. I had such high hopes. I've met some of the best people here and I've learned some harsh lessons about human nature.

17. The elections are what caused me to join DU.

I was so glad I did. I sought out the lounge after the elections and found warm arms hold me and people to cry with.

...and I have come to appreciate this board as a genuine community of families.

With all the assaults on our psyches, intellects, and senses by all manner of media -- it's invaluable to find a place where, although you rightly feel compelled to explain your point, you don't feel compelled to explain your life.
