Ever ratted on someone?
For poaching, stealing, drunk driving, that kind of thing. I did once.
Some truckload of rich little (The social class, not the comedian) pricks were driving in their life-sized hotwheels truck with a boat on the back... they were weaving in and out of traffic... and we then noticed they were passing a bottle around.

We called the fuzz..

1. My husband have ratted on drunk drivers on two occasions
One the police asked us to follow and tell them which way the guy was headed.

The other got into a fight in the car, put the car in the ditch when he punched the passenger (that's when we came upon the accident and called 911) while waiting for the police w/the two of them they started fighting and we had to break them up.

MORANS all of them.

3. poaching
and other wildlife violations. Got a pet shop busted for selling baby sea turtles back in the 70's. Made a couple other calls over the years. I'll drop a dime on anyone fucking with wildlife in a heartbeat. Otherwise I'm a child of the street who considers ratting to be the lowest of the low.

4. I did...
when I overheard some idiots talking about how they stole thousands of dollars of fishing equipment from private residences on Lake Osakis in Minnesota.

They got busted. Now they're serving some time in prison (for that and other things, too). :)

13. Yes, I turned my former boss into the FBI
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 03:30 PM by Jara sang
I did it using the FBI Tips website. No word from the FBI. Do they not care? I know this will sound unbelievable but, I turned him for telling me his wife was in the CIA and that she currently trains agents in Northern Virginia. I know this sounds unbelievable but it is the truth.

17. I ratted on my dad for drunk driving.
I didn't know he was drunk until I was in the car with him. (It's hard to tell sometimes when alcoholics are drunk.) I made my dad stop and I called my Aunt and Uncle to pick us up.

Everyone was mad at me for a while, because I was forcing them to deal.

Tough Shit!

23. I called in a drunk driver once
He was all over the road, passed us going very fast, weaving terribly on a windy, two lane road over the mountains (Highway 17 from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos for you Bay Area folks) - I called 911 and was in the midst of reporting it when we rounded a turn and saw him in the distance off the road with two other vehicles! Then we saw him try to drive off but a guy in a pickup blocked him. THEN he tried to run and the guy in the pickup, who was huge, grabbed him. As we continued on, we saw a cop pull up in our rearview mirror. :)

25. I wanted to but the cops beat me to it
Twice.

First time, snowy winter night about 2 am, I'm trying to turn onto a major street, and a speeding car almost takes off the front of my car. I said to myself "Somebody should arrest that guy". Not far behind was a police vehicle. By the time I got up to them, the cops had them pulled over and assuming the position. One cop was fishing though the back seat, and was in the process of pulling out a huge handgun from amongst a pile of empty beer cans behind the driver's seat as I drove by.

Second time, identical situation, except at night in warm Los Angeles. This time it was a speeding Porsche with the lights turned off in the dark. I caught a glimpse of a smashed out passenger window as the car sped by. I almost hit it. Right behind it, a cop with his lights turned out. Then, boom! Lights come down from an overhead helicopter, and the police car lights up. Somebody got themselves very caught.

26. I lost my job because of that
I was very young and working as a store detective in Miami. The fitting room girl, who was about fifteen, told me she thought the head of security was peeping. She was very distressed and sid that every time a girl went into the dressing room to try on a bathing suit she heard motion from above and sometimes coughing. She suspected the head of security.

Being all of twenty-two myself I called my bosses boss and filled him in. In the end, the big guy told me I was doing a great job and --sure enough-- someone had placed boards over the pressboard squares of the fitting room, small pieces of those squares had been removed, and there were footprints all around.

Sadly, they couldn't say who had done such a thing but the boards had been removed, so just go along as though nothing had happened. Then, the head of security got me alone in the office. He was glaring darts and told me my life was about to change around that store! I quit on the spot. The woman in personnel knew what happened and she said, "Don't repeat this or I'll say you lied, but when the security head told you that you suddenly need to work Sundays, he crossed the line and you qualify for unemployment."

Always look out when you try on clothes in a store. Just sayin' . . .

29. And I would like to thank you.
As someone who was nearly killed many times by my stepfather, who insisted on driving us around while drunker than Cooter Brown, I do appreciate it. I used to wish someone would see him drinking at red lights and call the cops on him so I wouldn't have to fear for my life so much.

Same goes for everyone else on the road with them, blissfully unaware.

Drunk driving is no joke.

30. When I was working retail, but nothing was done.
Another manager and a salesman, both married and one with kids, were having sex in the store on company time. I told our store manager, who not only didn't do anything about it but let them know I'd told him.

A couple months later I went in the back room and the other manager was touching herself while having phone sex with her husband overseas (she had a bad habit of making overseas calls on the company phones.) Having learned my lesson I just went about my business. She flipped the phone to speakerphone and told him I could see what she was doing, then asked me to verify aloud to her husband that she was touching herself. Sheepishly, I did and quickly grabbed what I needed and went back to the sales floor.

Knowing nothing would be done and being incapable of working in such an enviornment, I quit and got a much lower paying job with a competitor.

My manager there was a perv, too. :eyes: He got fired for looking at porn on the store computers after another employee caught him in a compromising moment.

31. yeah
A guy I knew in college was using his grandmother's handicapped tag to park in the handicapped spaces at school.

Parking was a big issue at this school, not to mention what he was doing was unethical, so I reported him to University police.

33. I dobbed in 2 friends to ASIO, (Australia's CIA)
For a couple of years before Sept-11-01 one of them, a crazy scientist, was working on making explosives for a group he was going to that was showing him movies to prove how terrible Jews were, and others that had him convinced all of a sudden in creationism. Curious, I got him to check on financing, and he found it was an Saudi Arabian bank financing the group. Then he got another friend who makes needles and other fine metal tools to out together weird equipment for the group.

What he was talking about was getting more and more crazy, and when I got some money early 2001 he told me not to buy shares because something huge was going to be done in America that would crash the stock market and plunge the western world into a depression.

I hated doing it, but after the twin tower stuff I had to do something. I rang ASIO, they had set up a special number, and the people I spoke to were both men who sounded like the Turks I know, who I could hear laughing about it while they left the phone on a bench, ignored. When, after 1/6 a dozen attempts, I tried a different number to an old contact. He treated my information very differently, but he would not believe me about the treatment I'd had on the advertised number.

Anyway, it turned out one of Bin Laden's sons had been in Melbourne setting up groups, and the one my friends were involved in was one of them. After that my house was watched, I had my phone tapped and I had "reporters" turn up at my door taking heaps of photos of me for a newspaper article, but when I rang the paper for copies they insisted no reporter had been here.

I don't believe in dobbing people in, and I lost friends over it, but sometimes you just have to.

About the religious stuff, they seemed to use it to sift the people who would keep thinking for themselves out of the group, so they could just keep the most gullible to work with.
