Poll question: Best West Coast National Park
There was a poll a few days ago about the best national park. Unfortunately "other" got the most votes because there are just too many fantastic parks. How about we break it down into section of the country, so we get every park.

2. None of the above! Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, HI
unless we're getting our own region, that is :-)

Lassen Volcanic* is a 12-inch black-and-white compared to the 42-inch plasma that is Kilauea, centerpiece of Hawaii Volcanoes.

The park is adding a big chunk of neighboring Kahuku Ranch, with plenty of endangered wildlife habitat.

Plus, neighboring Volcano Village has developed a decent-size art colony over the years.

3. Where's Redwoods?
Tallest trees in the world, spectacular coastline, few people around, it's a template for "God's Country"...

Edited on Fri Jul-25-03 03:00 PM by pmbryant
Because no one had voted for it yet, and it certainly deserves some votes.

:bounce:

You didn't include Big Bend NP in either of your polls! For shame! ;-)

8. Just got back Monday from Mt. Ranier
among other stops on a long trip.

We really loved Mt. Ranier! No matter what direction we were walking or driving, kept finding myself twisting/turning my head trying to see the mountain.

Those trees at Grove of the Patriarchs, wow, they rival the ones I saw in part of Muir Woods (north of San Francisico I think?).

Maybe it was the 2.5 days of absolutely gorgeous weather we enjoyed more than the park itself, but anyway, we were impressed. Highly recommend the trip!

9. Had to vote for Olympic
Mainly because it's in my backyard. Also because it's not crowded like most of the others.
