33. I have hated clowns my whole life
The first nightmare I can remember (at age 4) had an evil clown in it. Nothing is scarier at age four than an evil Bozo trying to throw you into a burning furnace.

35. The best was when Homey sold out
and started working for Chez Whitey. A little kid passed him on the street and said "you're not Homey the Clown - you're Homey THE MAN." Homey turned around and a tear rolled down his cheek.

Ahhh, they don't make 'em like that anymore.

9. Clowns scare me
(Krusty being the exception) I blame Victor Salva & his film Clownhouse. Not only is the film terrifying (particularly for a kid) with three escaped psycho's killing clowns, stealing their costumes then terrorising 3 young boys ... but Salva sexually molested the lead boy whilst filming which only adds to his reactions of horror. (Of course, I didn't know the latter until years after I saw it but I think it adds to my present day fear of clowns.)

15. Me.
I played one at an obscure little TV station very few people could get, in an isolated community. It was a blast.

I don't get the professed fear of clowns I hear all the time.
The kids loved me. For some odd reason, they also wanted to hurt me.

I'm afraid of kids, now. Trauma.

23. That wasn't my intention by any means.
Just saying that his despicable actions did help plant fear in many... and it's perfectly understandable. He ruined clowns for a lot of people. OK, he and Poltergeist. :scared:

when I got older and learned of Gacy. Despite your username, I have no doubt that you were a jolly, happy clown spreading laughter and happiness.

Do you have any pics??

30. Once upon a time...
there was Chucko the Birthday Clown

As well as celebrating birthdays, he would tell jokes and sing ditties like:

I'd rather be a rain drop
a rain drop, a rain drop
I'd rather be a rain drop
than a big drip like you

39. Yes the very idea of it made me want to vomit.
And making it a TV movie is even worse.

Old Bob Grey was not chasing Eddie down the street screaming "Blowjob" at him. And I'm sure Pennywise turned Vampire in the library was not chewing his own face up. "Kee-runch!"

Most of the good stuff would have to be removed which makes it an abomination.

40. Captain Kangaroo/Clarabell - they were both Robert Keeshan
Captain Kangaroo's first TV role was as Clarabell the Clown on the Howdy Doody show.

Also Emmett Kelly, probably the greatest clown of his era should be mentioned. He was the star of the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus and also starred frequently on television and in movies ('The Greatest Show On Earth', and in Fellini's 'The Clowns').
