2. My Dane, when he stands on his hind legs
can look over our 6' privacy fence. Freaks out passers-by.

4. Wow! That is one big dog!
I thought it was going to be an Irish wolfhound since those are the tallest dogs usually.

I've always wanted one of these gentle giants. I love Great Danes too!

8. I know they don't. Their life span is typically 6-8 years.
But I've known many 12 year old Great Danes. It just depends. But they are still beautiful dogs. If I am lucky enough to get 6-8 years out of a wonderful pet, then it will be well worth it.

7. Lemme tell you about my neighbor's Irish wolfhound,

Zola. Last winter, she (Zola, not the neighbor) was being walked off of the leash and decided to go for a swim in our koi pond. I swear, when she jumped in, she created a near tidal wave onto the patio and drenched me. :(

9. I bet it did. They are humongous.

I've heard that they aren't the best guard dogs as they will greet a stranger with their tails wagging. But their size alone would be enough to keep most people away. :)

11. I wouldn't trust an Irish wolfhound
to keep dogs out of the koi pond, that's for sure. But Zola sure is sweet, although quite a slobbering kisser. (Eck.)
