So there was a 3.1 earthquake
in Santa Monica today. And I totally missed it. Didn't feel a thing. Frankly, I feel a little bit ripped off.

Any of you Californians feel it?

1. Nope, didn't feel it!
I told you!

Thosse happen ALL THE TIME! And unless you're right on top of them, you won't feel them......

But I'm glad you didn't feel it.....See? You have survived your first earthquake!

Or should I say .... you've lost your earthquake virginity!

6. Huskerlaw is sooo very correct, my dear bigwillq!
I am not nearly so innocent as I may first appear to be!

I do have a good heart, though.......

And I remember hearing that love covers a lot of sins.....

I'm banking on that one, you know!

:yourock: back atcha!

4. I'm so bummed.
I've been hanging out with my friend from NYC today. She's lived here for about 2 months and this was her first earthquake too.

She says we're still earthquake virgins, cuz "if you don't feel it, it doesn't count!" And yeah, we're both pretty disappointed. ;)

We were in the car (or perhaps the Cingular store) in Sherman Oaks when it happened. Freaking weird.

How big does it have to be before you feel it?

8. Peggy, Huskerlaw won't lose her - ahem - temblor cherry until the four
corners of her bedroom are bouncing independently of each other and she is flouncing in bed feeling true terror. (Northridge.)

;) HL

2. I wouldn't feel a 3.1 unless
I were within about 25 miles of the epicenter, and I'm about 300 miles from Santa Monica.

A 3.1 is pretty :boring:

10. I slept through a 4.1 in LA once.
In a highrise hotel.

I heard about it on the elevator in the morning. I felt ripped off too.

I prefer my state that is virtually free of any major natural disasters :D

19. I was in Marina Del Rey today which is very close to Santa Monica
and I didn't feel a thing...but that's okay. I still haven't gotten over the Northridge Quake in '94 (I was five miles from the epicenter and I honest to God thought the world was ending). Oh well, I love it so much here in SoCal that I can't imagine living anywhere else :-)

18. yep shows up here on the quake chart alright
http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/quakes0.html

Seems there was a slightly larger one in southern California not long before the one in Santa Monica hit.

3.0 = pfffftttttttt ....

I'm used to 7.0+ here in northern California. :D
