I hate intercoms!!!!!

Overheads are bad enough with "grown men" playing little jokes over the system for us all to hear but now we have these direct intercoms to our phones without even ringing so it's like someone just barges in your peace and concentration barking requests. Not only that, the person on the other line can hear what's going on around your desk and if you're saying something you think is in confidence, think again. I told the phone guy to make them ring and he did. Next day, it was back to the instant talk because this guy at work thinks that's the way it sould be. I stomped over to the boss and told him how rude this was and how everyone all around can hear your intercom and if we have clients they'll hear it all too. Just rude, totally rude, and unprofessional. This is not a car factory. I hate intercoms with a passion. Some guy always uses the overhead instead of calling the person who is sitting at their desk. Rude, rude, rude. If it isn't fixed, I won't be into work tomorrow. If I hear voices, I want it to be God telling me to kick butt like he did with the Prez! (wink!)
