1. Went with "Kind Of Blue"
With "Sketches Of Spain" a close second.

3. The Thelonius Monk/Coltrane live album that just came out
Though I have to say, I haven't heard it yet, though I've ordered it.

Of what you have up there, I go with A Love Supreme.

4. Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall
I picked this up about three weeks ago, Rabrrrrr...
FANTASTIC album with both superior musicianship and audio quality.

You'll enjoy!

5. I went with Coltrane's Giant Steps
because I love the solos on that album and I think it's Coltrane at his progressive best, better even than his earlier more bluesy oriented stuff. But every album on the list is of equal genius to me, or at least it's hard to put anything beneath anything else.

As far as my favorite album for the pure beauty of the compositions and the energy, I would suggest Light As A Feather by Chick Correa's Return To Forever. Every single tune on that great album is a classic. Airto's driving Latin rhythm is great beyond belief and Joe Farrell's sax actually makes me high without any external assistance when I hear his solo on the title tune. I would put that album somewhere on any all-time great list.

8. "Other."
This is like comparing apples to oranges! I can't say that one genius is any better than the others on this list...

9. Rahsaan Roland Kirk "Bright Moments"
MY pick for "Greatest"... but A Love Supreme is up there.... so is Bitches Brew- no- In A Silent Way... no- Birds Of Fire- yeah! no no no... it has to be "I Sing The Body Electric" by Weather Report.... no- wait...

Hey how on earth could you even ASK this question?!?!?

I gotta go sit down... *shwew*

10. Birth of the Cool and Kind of Blue changed jazz history.
Also his fusion sessions. Even if you didn't like them.
