What's it all about, life, the universe, and everything? (Don't say 43)
One of my patients died yesterday. I work as a nurse aide in a nursing home and this was expected. Nevertheless, I still can't help but wonder here. I mean, I'm not upset that this patient died, just curious about what's it all about then!? I saw the photos on the wall above the bed when this person was young. Looked just like you and me. Why do we grow old? What's the point? Please don't throw at me 'That's just the way it is' or 'It's God's will', this just will not answer my quest-ion. If you would just think for a moment, that we are all made up of atoms. Think about what that is. Make the entire Earth about the size of an orange. The atoms are the size of ordinary cherries. (From the movie Mindwalk) Now make the cherry into the size of a small city. The nucleus would be about the size of a centimeter while the electrons would be circling around the outskirts of the city, about the size of a pebble. Everything else is nothing. So tell me, if you know, where are we and where do we go?

3. If we know?
Who here can say that? I know one person who I believe knows, but I'm not going to expect you all to believe that. That wouldn't be realistic.

I am initiated by an Indian spritual master. I believe he knows, but I don't expect anyone to share my faith. :)

6. Some say it's all about learning
and coming back over and over and over again until you get it 'right' - then you're done and move to some next plane of existence.

9. But, what if I don't want to come back until I get it 'right'?
Who's to say what is 'right'?

11. This is supposed to be fun
A great learning experience. Pretty much what DS1 said. I think we take stuff much too seriously, I'm just speaking about myself really but I'm pretty sure it applies to most people.

18. It's not a very satisfying answer, but I think if you boil it down
it seems like life exists in the universe to create new life, and on and on.

That is the purpose of evolution -- to make a life form successful and survivable at one particular moment in time, and to produce more of its kind (albeit perhaps w/ a helpful deviation).

No, I'm not saying that organisms that don't reproduce are wrong or failures.

It just seems we are all biological entities, and from a purely scientific standpoint, the "goal" is to keep life going.

But WHY we're supposed to keep life going, I don't know.

19. Extra Credit on Physics Test: Define the universe, and give three examples
It's an impossible task. So when all else fails, use your imagination, listen for the voices (I know you hear them too, right? ;) and look around to see if you're ideas make sense.
