I wish every day was Oktoberfest!
Good food, good beer, good friends, and dancing, dancing, dancing! Oh yeah! Polka!

My SO and I and both our parents went to the local Oktoberfest today. First we pigged out: pork schnitzel, kasseler rippchen, red cabbage, bratwurst, knackwurst, and weisswurst, all piled high with mounds and mounds of kraut. :9 Followed by black forest cake, all of it washed down with Grolsch! And Shiner Bock (What?!? I'm drinking a beer from Texas?), and others.

The parents all left after a couple of hours, but my SO is a live wire and wanted to stay and dance some more. She had people applauding her energy. One lady encouraged her to get up on the table and kick it up. Total strangers were stopping by our table (she was still dancing by the table even when I was resting and re-fueling), telling her what a dynamo she is. One lady couldn't even speak much English, but launched an admiring stream of German at her. We polka'd so much (and I don't know how to polka, so basically I sucked), and then we polka'd some more. And all three of the bands were great. One of them played some New Orleans jazz here and there, and another got into some great fiddle playing. (My one complaint: there was not a single Tuba in the place!) My SO did some clogging in her 5-inch boot heels, for which there was hell to pay. But what a fabulous day. I'll remember it forever.

Every day should be Oktoberfest.
