1. Well this one became a laugher early. Guess Mack Brown still has a job.

3. Mack wasn't in any danger even if he'd lost.
He's taken the program to great success. UT is a legit national title contender, and that Rose Bowl win and the win over Ohio State have pretty much made Mack untouchable. This is just gravy. Tasty gravy. MMMMMMMMMMMM..........

4. Well, if he'd lost, he would not only have continued losing to OU, he
would have probably wrecked UT's title hopes in perhaps its most promising recent title run year yet, in a year where UT was heavily favored over OU.

So UT did great in smoking OU, but I'm not so sure he would've been entirely OK had he lost.

8. It's hard not to hold all things Texas in contempt b/c of GWB,
but it WAS quite satisfying to see a can of whoop-ass opened on Bob Stoops, who, now that he's playing the kids HE recruited, isn't looking like quite such a genius anymore.

Plus, I keep having to remind myself that Austin is a wonderful, liberal haven in the midst of a conservative train wreck.

"Hook 'Em!" At least till; New Years.

15. The U. of Oklahoma vs. the U. of Texas annual grudge match, MrsG
Also known as the Red River Shoot-Out. It's an annual football game held at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and a big thing in both states -- one that arouses strong feelings. Oklahoma has won for the last 5 years; this year, they have a bad team and lost 45-12. The Texas team is named the Longhorns and they have a Hook 'Em Horns slogan.

My :loveya: lives in Oklahoma city and is an OU graduate and big-time fan, which is the only reason why I am reading this thread.

Happily, my team won today (oops, maybe should not have mentioned this to someone from Wisconsin) but my team beat the Badgers today. I am stunned!

7. Why don't you worry about Tech and let us celebrate in peace?
You're down 14 right now. Looks like we won't be seeing you in the Big 12 Conference Championship game. Too bad.

10. Sorry if that came off bad. No hard feelings.

I'll even throw in a "Go Big Red" for good measure. I really don't like Tech.

13. Why? The UT Law School rejected him.
Aside from Jenna, he has no ties to UT.

16. Think of it as the school of Walter Cronkite and Bill Moyers.
And Barbara Jordan taught there.

It's good to keep pleasant thoughts.
