1. I am sorry, and happy birthday at the same time
I am sure you will find something better. The situation you were in at your job was untenable, IMHO.

5. Yes.
The firing was a gift, in the long run. I see great things in undeterred's future.

:)

14. I agree with you Floogeldy.
we don't always realize the gift in a bad situation ...

it's often difficult to find the 'one good thing' in what seems like a bad situation when we are hurt or angry ...

but inner strength grows by overcoming the the problems that life tosses at us ...

8. thank you
yeah, it can't really get much worse. I have been totally cut off from people I was making friends with for the last 3 months. Now I am the adversary to the company because of the way corporations are. God, how I hate corporations.

11. Happy Birthday undeterred.
I know right now it's not going to help a lot but realize that you're not alone in this. I left a job under similar circumstances. The boss was a total jerk and the workload was unbearable. For all I did for that place I didn't even get a thank you. When I left it felt like the weight of the world was off my shoulders. It will get better.

13. thank you
I told my IT manager (who had to fire me) that he took the weight of the world off my shoulders.

And yes, I knocked myself out for that office and they don't even know it. I hope the next three months are completely fucking miserable for the whole office because they have no support and they have only Mr. Asshole to thank.

19. They'll hire some poor schmuck who wants to get into IT
but has no clue of the company dynamics and politics at all. Places like this don't change until there's a significant change in management. But you'll be way ahead of them because you got out.

12. My girlfriend would view this as a sign...
especially so close to your birthday.

It must be a b-day gift from the forces that be.

15. I got fired on my birthday once! It was the best thing that ever happened
to me!

I cried for a day, ate way too much Pad Thai, and then enrolled in school to finally get my degree in my field, (after getting one in a field I didn't love, due to parental pressure, blah, blah blah...)

Anyhow, it was the catalyst for wonderful changes in my life. (Rough financially, tho!)

Onward and upward, my friend, onward and upward....

Good things are coming your way.

18. I've had 3 office jobs.
Was fired from one after 3 months for being a Colorado cynic in L.A..

The next job I had forced me to quit. They would never fire anybody. Just make it as miserable as possible for them. Then getting unemployment was next to impossible. So I walked out at the most possible inconvenient time for my department.

AND I realized that I needed to figure out how to make money without being in an office. Corporate life made me miserable. It's SO highschool. Competence and drive have nothing to do with advancing in most corporate environments.

So now I have two seasonal jobs. Concert production during the summers. And signed memorabilia during the rest of the year. I am making more money, quickly became the regional manager and traveling training for the memorabilia job...and I don't spend one minute inside a cubicle.

Shit man...the more I think about (and after reading your other thread)...this is GREAT news! This is a gift. You're one lucky person. They made the decision for you. You needed to make it, but couldn't. You were miserable and now you can finally close that crappy chapter.

Congratulations! You should be partying like a Kennedy tonight!
