Actually I was a little too young to be into Duran Duran during their heydey, being born in 1976 and all. I just discovered them in my maturity, so the marketing hasn't touched me. You know what? The songs are really good!

Adam and the Ants were pretty innovative for their time. Marco Pironi's guitar work and the two-drummer rhythm section were pretty cool.

My picks personally of that time would have been more along the lines of Ac/Dc, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead etc. I was also an early advocate of rap/hip-hop, and of course i did like the funk.
