Why does FOX insist on producing and airing filthier shows every year?

Are they trying to recreate the success of "Married with Children", which was somewhat low-brow by 1987 standards yet still immensely tame compared to some tasteless series coming out even 3 years later? (even Sam Kinnison was given restraint!)

Give Rupee Murdoch an extra talking point about how television in general has become degenerate? (which he's already done, so now I'm confused...)

Try to bring in the ratings because today's populace prefers shock value (and there is an eventual limit as to what can be posed as shocking)
