Oooooo....that's just not right.

The damn thing is floating in Elliott Bay right now, about a kilometre or so from where I work. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Those cranes top at 120 metres!

It looks like a skateboard with three(1500 tons each) chairs on it. To think it sailed across the Pacific like that; it's a testimony to good marine engineering, no doubt.

1. Wow!
That went across the ocean? Talk about top heavy - must have been a *&*$-load of ballast in the ship. I can't believe it didn't tip over.

3. What a shame.......
Seattle has the manufacturing space and know how. Shame we had to import the thing. I live near the Boeing plant in Everett, and my neighbors are all waiting for the next ax to fall.

5. Well you know the Republican plan. Ship all our manufacturing over
to Korea and other nations in the Far East. Then Korean tourists come here to the U.S. and spend their tourist money here. Then that money 'trickles down' to the "guy on the street." You know, Joe Six-Pack that the Chimp claims to love so much. Yeah, that'll work, won't it? Won't it?

4. I'm surprised they shipped them assembled...
..as a freight transportation professional, I find that odd.

Very impressive sight, tho.

7. they ship assembled
becuase the only crane in the world big enough to assemble them is at the factory.

except for the one used to build them, these are some of the largest cranes in the world.

6. Either the angle of the shot is funny
or that barge looks like it's listing to this side.

I agree. Curious they'd ship them assembled. :wow: :wow:

Good thing they didn't run into a typhoon.

8. I think it's that structure just in front of the bridge...
...if you ignore that slanted crossmember (?) and look at the cranes and the superstructure the ship looks level.
