5. Yeah... and to be in the same building has also gotta be tough.
Life does press on though. I'm gonna sound old saying this... but you've got all your best years in front of you. :) Speaking from my very own personal experience. :D

14. Yeah. Queens isn't usually thought of as being "fun central"
Although there are parts of Queens that are really cool. I like Astoria, because there are a lot of good Greek resturaunts

17. I disagree a bit
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 11:45 AM by Zuni
While Queens is low density compared to Manhattan, Queens has more than 2 million people in about 110 Sq. miles, making it one of the most densely populated areas in North America. It is only "suburban" in that it does not have a central business district, which is of course in Manhattan

Brooklyn has 2.5 million in 80 sq miles.

Manhattan has 1.5 million in 23 sq. miles, making it "super urban", easily the most densely populated area in North America.

Staten Island is more like a true suburb.

I despise suburbs too. But Queens doesn't fit my image of a suburb, with long distances between strip malls and little cul-de sacs packed with ugly mcmansions or little ranch houses

26. No it doesn't
I grew up in Queens and now live in real suburbs. You don't want to like Queens, fine (I didn't like it either), but it's not the 'burbs.

20. riverdale tries to pretend it's not the bronx
and it succedes pretty well, because theres some real $$$ up there. . throggs neck was pretty scary/ racist when i was growing up. i'm sure it must be a little more intergrated right now. but it used to be filled with whiteboys toting baseball bats back in the day. god forbid a person of color tried to walk the streets in the neck back then.
did you ever see spike lee's son of sam movie? it really nailed it.

22. It is a mob neighborhood
and he came to Maryland at a very young age, so he didn't really grow up in the Bronx, although when people ask him where he is from he likes to say "The bronx". As for racial problems His mom (old school Italian) has a black husband (his parents are divorced), but I am not sure if she still lives in Throgs Neck, although she lived out there for a long time

The racial violence of throg's neck was captured in "A Bronx tale" too.
