The within you and the without you is all confused.

That's a good sign! ;)

5. Of course.

I'm always nervous in social situations by default anyways.

Of course, who cares if a person likes you or not? If they don't like you for who you are, screw 'em. (not literally)

7. I am not social,
I talk for a living, (I am a therapist) The last thing I want to do is go out and socialize. I do not dig social situations. Would much rather hang at home, spend time with my family, listen to tunes, and have a frosty beverage.

9. I'm kind of a social animal, myself.
If someone doesn't like me, I move to defuse it if possible, or just agree to disagree. My ex was always jealous of how easily I can strike up a conversation with a stranger.

10. Nope.
If nobody liked me, I assure you I would feel complete license to "be myself."

At least that's the fiction that I like to tell myself.

14. No.
People don't like me - I don't like them.

In social situations, I grab a drink and then mercilessly imprison a couple of people with witty erudite conversation which they don't want to hear as part of my hypocritical "don't let the side down" act.

It's great fun really.

15. If they didn't like me and I didn't like them...
I wouldn't be nervous at all because I wouldn't give a flying fuck what they thought.

16. I'd have to say "yes."
Although, there is a certain amount of freedom that one attains if one TRULY believes that *no one* likes them....

There are, as always, advantages and disadvantages.

If it really came down to me thinking that NO ONE liked me, I'd think of it as an opportunity more than anything, I'd have to believe. That would be the most positive approach. I'd take it as my chance to let it all hang out, let it all be known.

Let the TRUTH be known, even.

I mean, after all- FUCK IT, right?

18. No, of course not.
Only if I felt the remote hope that someone might, possibly, perhaps like me would it generate nervousness and anxiety.

If I'm really convinced that liking me isn't going to happen, I got nuthin' to drum up my anxieties. But then, I'd also have little to nothing to motivate any social situations.

19. Of course not, anxiety is about uncertainty
I have social anxiety because I feel that people might like me, but they might not because I might say or do the wrong thing. I see every social situation as a chance to prove my worth to other people. What terrifies me is that I might fail at that.
If I am in a situation that I am convinced that they hate me, I feel less anxiety. If it is a place that I have to go frequently like work it, of course, bothers me.
Then there is the even worse job interview anxiety. They liked me enough on paper to interview me. They might not like me in person.

20. I ran for office, held a public position and was a spokesperson
for the party....

I also served on several non profit boards...

And it took a while before I felt completely comfortable in arranged social settings, such as fund raisers and what not...

I am able to keep my doubts and what not buried as I forge headlong into any social situation...

Especially now that I am not running for office, nor will I ever again, I am completely and utterly at ease any where I go.....

Cause now, I could give a rats ass what people think of me....

Either they like me or they don't......

Then again, I'd probably be around freepish classmates... :grr:
